Through our AI capabilities we accelerate the decision-making of our clients by connecting them to the world's top professionals and industry leaders.Atheneum is growing rapidly, with 500+ professionals in 11 offices across the US, South America, APAC and EMEA.Job Overview:We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Associate to support Atheneum’s global Client Protection Compliance function in our Shanghai office. This role is central to ensuring adherence to client compliance requirements, internal policies, and relevant regulatory frameworks. The position involves reviewing expert interactions and projects for compliance risks, ensuring thorough documentation, responding to internal and client-driven inquiries, and supporting audits and governance processes. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and effective communication, with a commitment to maintaining the highest compliance standards in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:Project & Expert Compliance ReviewReview expert profiles and project requests for compliance risks, including potential Material Non-Public Information (MNPI), industry/sector/geographic restrictions, and conflicts of interest.Conduct supplementary research as needed to validate risk assessments and ensure full alignment with client policies.Ensure timely logging of compliance decisions and documentation in line with internal standards.Risk Identification & EscalationIdentify, flag, and escalate potential compliance concerns to senior members of the Compliance team.Support compliance investigations, fact-finding, and follow-up actions where required.Maintain accurate records of compliance assessments and escalations.Audit & Documentation SupportAssist in preparing responses to client audits, compliance verifications, and due-diligence requests.Maintain organized internal compliance files, checklists, and audit-ready documentation.Help implement improvements to compliance frameworks, tools, and workflows.Cross-Functional Collaboration & Daily ExecutionEnforce client compliance requirements across daily operations in collaboration with global project delivery teams.Respond promptly to compliance inquiries from internal teams and support business stakeholders on compliance-related matters.Policy Monitoring & AnalysisTrack changes to client policies, industry rules, and emerging compliance trends relevant to the expert-network sector.Assist in updating internal processes to reflect evolving requirements.General DutiesUphold Atheneum’s global compliance standards and contribute to a strong culture of integrity and risk mitigation.Perform additional duties or projects assigned by the Compliance Manager or regional/global leadership.Requirements:Full professional fluency in both English and Chinese (written and spoken) is essential.Exceptional attention to detail, with strong organizational discipline and adherence to established procedures.Excellent communication skills, with an ability to collaborate effectively across global teams.Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and proactive problem-solving ability.Strong analytical skills and good judgment under time pressure.Legal background or prior experience in compliance, risk, audit, or a regulated industry is highly preferred but not mandatory.
