■ Job Title: Compliance Manager■ Job Level: Senior to Assistant Manager■ Location: Tokyo Headquarters■ Employment Type: Starting as a contract employee, with the possibility of conversion to a permanent employee after six months or one year.The Compliance unit within the Risk Management team at KPMG Tax Corporation Japan supports our internal stakeholders including senior leadership by providing them with comfort that appropriate controls and processes are in place to manage compliance with both external and KPMG internal obligations. Our wider Risk Management team brings expertise together across compliance, legal, information security and risk management, and more.As a Compliance specialist in the Risk Management team at Japan Tax Corporation, your role as a Manager will include;Leading the implementation of KPMG mandated compliance and review programs, including the conduct of testing relevant to the internal System of Quality Management / ISQM1.Developing Improvement Plans that capture the root cause and drive the required outcomes of the program.Developing and improving the documentation of the controls environment, in collaboration with control owners and operators.Educating stakeholders on the importance of effective controls operation.Bringing together knowledge from teams across our firm, by collaborating with other skilled consultants within our Risk Management team, the wider Administration team and the broader firm to our ability to deliver quality services to our clients.Grow and develop alongside a team of experienced Risk Management professionals.Immerse yourself in our inclusive, diverse and supportive culture.Be a part of something that is supporting the implementation of strategic outcomes.How are you extraordinary?You are a people-person with a love of sharing your compliance, risk management and control environment insight and tailoring your communication appropriately for subject matter experts and clients who want to learn more.You get excited about generating innovative ideas that create value, improve processes, and solve complex problems.You are a relationship builder, with keen communication skills and the knack for building and managing relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.Your ExperienceAt KPMG, we believe diversity of thought, background and experience strengthens relationships and delivers meaningful benefits to our people, our clients, and communities. To be considered for this opportunity, your qualifications, skills & experience could include:A desire to collaborate in teams on short- and long-term projects, and proven track record in contributing to and delivering projects successfullyExperience in working across a portfolio of projects with strong communication and stakeholder management skills.Experience in working in both Japanese and English, noting that reporting is undertaken in English. The position would suit a Japanese person with a good level of business English or an English speaker with some Japanese skills.Experience operating in a highly regulated environment. Experience in auditing and/or operating in a Big 4 accounting firm environment will be looked upon favorably.Experience working in a compliance function, as a compliance consultant and/or as a regulator, is viewed favorably.A relevant tertiary qualification (eg audit, business, commerce, finance, law, etc) and/or industry qualification (USCPA) should be considered as the minimum requirement, but we are also happy to consider people with other tertiary qualifications such as project management, change management and data analytics.WorkstyleThe role is contract based for a period to be determined by mutual agreement. Working hours are flexible, and can accommodate reduced working hours (for example, regular school hours). Participation in globally hosted teleconference calls will be required outside of regular working hours (occurring sporadically in the late evening). Review programs are seasonal, therefore there is some flexibility in leave arrangements.
