Job Title : Compliance ManagerLocation : New York, United StatesJob Type : Full TimeJob summary:Our client, a leading financial services organization, is seeking a Manager-level Compliance Advisor within its Governance, Vigilance & Insights (GV&I) division. This role plays a key part in advising Commercial Banking stakeholders on Commercial Credit and Counterparty Credit policies and regulatory compliance.The successful candidate will collaborate across all lines of defense to strengthen risk governance, controls, and assurance frameworks — driving strategic and transformative change throughout the business.About the RoleAs a Compliance Advisor, you will serve as the primary point of contact for Commercial Credit and Counterparty Credit compliance, ensuring adherence to internal policies, interpreting complex regulations, and influencing governance practices that promote sustainable growth. This position offers high visibility, engagement with senior leadership, and significant opportunities for professional development.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the compliance advisor for Commercial Credit and Counterparty Credit matters across the organization.Provide expert guidance on policy interpretation, regulatory requirements, and best practices in credit compliance.Conduct research and analysis on regulatory expectations and map findings to internal policies and controls.Assess the impact of new products, services, or regulatory changes on existing credit risk frameworks.Manage the drafting, maintenance, and lifecycle of credit policies and associated governance documentation.Deliver effective challenge during risk assessments and ensure strong compliance coverage.Analyze credit-related incidents for potential regulatory or policy implications and support remediation planning.Oversee GV&I-related risks, requirements, and controls aligned with enterprise standards.Contribute to credit risk governance initiatives, including exception management and approvals.Foster a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and proactive risk management within the team.QualificationsBasic Requirements:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military experience.Minimum 5 years of experience in risk management or compliance within a financial institution, consulting firm, or regulatory agency.Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree (MBA, JD, or another relevant advanced degree).7+ years of experience in credit risk management or compliance.Strong understanding of Commercial Banking operations and the three lines of defense model.Demonstrated ability to analyze complex regulatory topics and communicate insights clearly to stakeholders.Experience with credit-related regulatory guidance (e.g., SR 13-3, SR 11-10).Excellent organizational, analytical, and presentation skills.Proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets, Slides, Docs).Ideal Candidate TraitsSelf-driven and detail-oriented, with strong ownership and accountability.Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Builds trust and collaborates effectively across diverse teams.Demonstrates curiosity, initiative, and confidence in challenging existing processes to improve outcomes.
