Job Description

Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Power System StudiesDepartment: Technical ServicesReports To: Technical Services ManagerJob Summary: The Electrical Engineer – Power System Studies is responsible for conducting advanced electrical system studies to ensure the safe, stable, and efficient operation of the transmission and distribution network. This includes load flow, fault analysis, protection coordination, grounding, and reliability studies. The role requires proficiency in simulation software. Key Responsibilities: • Perform a wide range of power system studies, including:

o Load flow and voltage drop analysiso Short circuit (fault current) analysiso Protection coordination and relay settings verificationo Arc flash hazard analysiso Grounding system studieso Transient and dynamic stability studies (as needed)• Model and simulate electrical networks using tools such as: o ETAP• Analyze study results and develop technical reports with clear recommendations• Support design reviews and engineering decisions with data-driven insights• Collaborate with Planning, and Pperations teams to implement study recommendations• Validate as-built models against field data and update digital twins of the power system• Ensure all studies comply with industry standards (IEEE, IEC) and local regulations (e.

g. , SEC, SERA, GCCIA)• Participate in technical audits, grid code compliance assessments, and incident investigations• Contribute to the development and improvement of internal study procedures, templates, and guidelinesQualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems emphasis); Master’s degree is a plus• 5+ years of experience in utility or consulting environments performing power system studies• Strong technical knowledge of: o Transmission and distribution systemso Electrical equipment behavior (transformers, breakers, relays, etc.

)o Power quality, protection systems, and system stability• Proficiency in one or more simulation tools (ETAP, DIgSILENT, CYME, PSCAD)• Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, protection schemes, and SCADA data• Strong reporting and communication skillsPreferred Certifications: • Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent license• Power System Analysis or Protection training certification• Knowledge of NERC reliability standards or SEC grid and distribution codes is a plusWork Environment: • Office-based with occasional site visits• Works closely with Planning and Operations departments
