Job Description: General ResponsibilitiesSupervise, lead and manage maintenance teams (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. ) and ensure all tasks are executed efficiently and safely. Oversee security operations to ensure a safe and clean campus environment. Monitor the physical condition of university facilities and ensure timely corrective and preventive maintenance. Act as a liaison between maintenance staff and university departments to address maintenance-related requests. Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations and internal university policies.
Manage and maintain a helpdesk or digital ticketing system to receive, prioritize, and track facility-related requests. Strategic ResponsibilitiesImplement maintenance policies, procedures, and schedules aligned with the university’s strategic goals and sustainability vision. Assist in preparing maintenance budgets. Participate in infrastructure planning and development projects, particularly for specialized artistic facilities (e. g. , soundproof studios, theaters, workshops). Collaborate & Manage purchase of tools, spare parts and services contracts with procurement to evaluate and recommend service providers and suppliers for equipment, materials, and maintenance. Operational ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day maintenance operations, including preventive, corrective, security, safety, emergency maintenance, and maintain Maintenance logs and reports.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and inventory. Supervise external vendors and contractors performing specialized maintenance or renovation work. Coordinate maintenance of HVAC systems, lighting, water supply, fire safety systems, and energy management, and keep inventory of maintenance supplies. Ensure that artistic spaces (e. g. , galleries, studios, performance halls) are preserved and maintained to meet academic and event standards. Support setup and maintenance during events, exhibitions, and workshops in coordination with academic departments. Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should have:
Industry Experience 10+ years of experience in facilities or maintenance management, with preferably 5+ years in a supervisory role within a Higher Education or artistic institution. Demonstrated experience in managing end-to-end maintenance operations across diverse facility types including academic buildings, performance venues, art studios, or specialized spaces. Proven experience in implementing preventative and reactive maintenance strategies, vendor management, and compliance with safety and building codes in Saudi Arabia. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related technical field is required. Professional certifications (e. g. , PMP, CFM, OSHA) are highly preferred.
Management capabilitiesDemonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical teams with a focus on performance, safety, and quality. Proven track record of delivering high standards of operational efficiency while managing facilities of significant scale and complexity. Strategic mindset with the ability to align maintenance priorities to institutional goals and support long-term infrastructure planning. Strong planning and organizational capabilities with experience in managing maintenance budgets, asset lifecycles, and capital improvement projects. Data-driven approach to facilities oversight, with familiarity in using CMMS and digital maintenance tools to monitor and improve operations.
Interpersonal & Leadership SkillsStrong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments including academic, administrative, and creative teams. Proven ability to adapt leadership and communication style to work effectively with a diverse and multicultural workforce. Service-oriented mindset with the ability to respond to urgent requests calmly and efficiently in fast-paced academic and artistic environments.
