Configuration Management Specialist

Summary:Implement, maintain, and support the configuration management processes and tools to ensureaccurate tracking and control of IT assets, software versions, and configuration items throughouttheir lifecycle. This role ensures that configuration data is reliable, complete, and compliant withorganizational standards to support system integrity, change management, and release activities.Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and enforce configuration management plans, policies, and proceduresaligned with ITIL and organizational standards. Identify, document, and control configuration items (CIs), including hardware, software,and system components, ensuring proper baseline and version control.Maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring data accuracy,completeness, and compliance with audit requirements. Coordinate and participate in configuration audits and verification activities to validate theintegrity of configuration data. Support change and release management processes by providing accurate configurationstatus accounting and facilitating timely approvals for configuration changes.Collaborate with IT teams, project managers, and business units to assess the impact ofconfiguration changes and provide configuration information for decision-making.Monitor configuration management activities and generate status reports for managementand governance bodies.Assist in continuous improvement initiatives related to configuration management policies,tools, and workflows.Job Title:Configuration ManagementSpecialist Reports To:Configuration & IncidentManagement ManagerDivision: Application Support & QualityAssuranceOperating Unit: Information TechnologyJob Description2 | P a g eMinimum Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or arelated field is typically required. 1-3 years of experience in configuration management, IT asset management, or relatedIT operations roles. Hands-on experience with configuration management tools and databases (e.g.,ServiceNow CMDB, BMC Remedy). Familiarity with the ITIL framework and best practices related to configuration, change,and release management. Experience in conducting configuration audits and handling compliance requirements ispreferred.
