We are seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to head our Commercial Consents Team, who can:Lead & Support: Inspire and mentor the consents processing team to deliver efficient and compliant consenting decisions in line with the Building Act 2004 and NZ Building Code.Collaborate: Partner with inspection teams and other consents teams to deliver a seamless, adaptable, and customer-focused building service.Drive Strategy & Improvement: Develop and implement strategies that ensure business continuity, continuous improvement, and alignment with Council priorities.Manage Performance: Monitor team and contractor compliance, competency, and productivity, providing regular performance reporting.Champion Leadership & Culture: Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture that embraces Council values, Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and the use of reo Māori.About YouWe're looking for an experienced and forward-thinking leader with:A relevant tertiary qualification or professional accreditation meeting regulatory requirements.Proven leadership experience within territorial authorities or the building/construction sector.Strong skills in managing and developing high-performing teams in technical and regulatory environments.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.Knowledge of building consents processing and construction practices.About UsAt Hutt City Council our vision is to build a connected, resilient and inclusive city where all our people thrive.
