Department: EstimatingLocation: Metropolitan Companies Fort WashingtonDescriptionMetropolitan Companies is looking for a Construction Cost Estimator to join our team! The Construction Cost Estimator is responsible for estimating work for commercial and multi-family projects. This position is required to estimate labor, time, and materials of construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and proposals to compute the overall cost of the project. This position will report to the Director of Construction Services. If you are flexible, motivated and want to join a growing company, then this is the role for you!Key ResponsibilitiesReview blueprints, product specifications, and utilize company software to accurately determine time, cost, labor, and quantities of materials needed for projects.Work with architects as needed for changes, questions, etc. on blueprints and building plan documents.Prepare detailed cost estimates of materials by analyzing plans and specifications.Utilize spreadsheets and company software to input dimensions and other data to calculate projected costs of proposed projects.Solicit and review subcontractor proposals and assist with contract negotiations.Document total materials needed and contact information necessary to process orders.Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates.Perform quality take-offs.Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation for the duration of the project.Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services through the duration of the project.Send out bids and track actual costs relative to bids as project develops.Perform other duties as assigned and required.Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseCompetencies:Ability to multi-task and estimate multiple projects at a time.Excellent problem-solving skills.Detail-oriented.Requirements:HS diploma or GEDBachelor’s degree is preferred5+ years’ experience estimating in single-family or multi-family constructionProficiency with Microsoft officeAbility to read blueprintsAbility to travel to job sites as neededPreferred:10 years’ experience estimating in the construction industryPrevious experience with Stack, Procore, Pro Est, Building Connected, Adobe, Revu, Bluebeam, AutoCAD/Auto DeskBenefitsMedical/Dental/Vision InsuranceVoluntary Benefits (Life Insurance, Short-term & Long-term Disability)Health Savings Plan (HSA)401k Plan-MatchHoliday PayPaid Time OffBonus ProgramEmployee Referral Bonus
