About Malamar ConstructionMalamar Construction is a full-service renovation and construction company based in Guelph, serving the Tri-City area and beyond.We deliver residential, commercial, and light industrial projects, from home additions and renovations to office, warehouse, and facility upgrades.We’re a growing, family-run business known for professional project delivery, detailed estimating, and organized execution.Position OverviewWe’re looking for a Construction Estimator to take ownership of our estimating and pre-construction process, including both negotiated projects and public bids/tenders.You’ll review drawings and specifications, coordinate with trades and suppliers, and prepare accurate, competitive estimates that set projects up for success.This is a technical estimating role, ideal for someone who enjoys pricing, detail, and coordination in the construction industry.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed estimates for projects ranging from $25K–$1M.Review drawings, specifications, addenda, and site conditions to define scope.Solicit and analyze supplier and subcontractor quotes.Prepare and submit public tenders and bid packages, ensuring compliance with submission requirements.Track bid opportunities, manage timelines, and maintain organized records.Prepare clear, professional client proposals for negotiated projects.Maintain and update pricing databases and sub-trade contact lists.Support project setup and documentation for awarded jobs.Qualifications5+ years of estimating or project coordination experience (residential and commercial).Familiar with public tendering, RFPs, and bid submissions.Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and Ontario Building Code.Proficient in Excel, Bluebeam, JobTread and other estimating/project management software.Strong organizational, analytical, and written communication skills.Able to manage multiple active bids and meet deadlines.Valid G driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for site visits.Steel-toed boots required (other PPE provided).Why Join MalamarPermanent, full-time position with competitive salary and benefits.Exposure to a mix of residential, commercial, and light industrial projects.Involvement in both private and public bid opportunities.Collaborative, small-team environment where your input matters.Opportunity to grow with an organized and respected local builder.BenefitsCasual dressPaid time off and stat holidaysOn-site parkingExtended health, dental, and vision careCompany events and team lunchesMileage reimbursementWe thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted directly.
