We are bound to bring more green energy to the world and make it accessible and affordable to everyone.Job responsibilities:General Construction Management Highly visible leadership in the field to galvanise the engineering, supervision, safety, environment, quality and support teams and work together as an effective delivery team. Ensure projects are adequately resourced taking into consideration project complexity, client requirements and budget constraintsKnowledge of and ability to apply relevant Fulton Hogan systems and procedures and approve new site procedures and instructions where necessaryEnsure records are maintained to meet employee, organisational and statutory requirementsPromptly elevate any undesirable situations or events that have or may have the potential to negatively impact the project outcomes or the wider objectives and reputation of Fulton Hogan Actively promote and solidify the reputation of Fulton Hogan as a high performing preferred contracting entity Proactively manage the timely preparation and execution of deliverables to a high standardHSE Management & SustainabilityMeet all HSE schedule requirements as allocated to ensure team is accountable for SWMS, work pack reviews, permits to work, plant inspections, site inspections and leadership actions. Each team member to complete at least 1 x safety based activity each week.Lead incident investigations as required.Lead the timely close out of incident investigations (within 48 hours) and action implementation.Participate in HSE communications (toolboxes etc.).Target zero High Potential Injury and WH&S reportable incidents.Up-skill and assist lower Tier sub-contractors to perform better in the safety arena. Meet the minimum contractual requirements for ISCA and lead by example.Commercial & Financial ManagementEnsure team is trained up with project controls i.e. forecasting, cost tracking, planning capabilities etc.ForecastEnsure that the End of Month timetable is met.Ensure team knows all costs incurred during each period and that all cost correctly allocated.Ensure consistent forecasting with minimal month to month fluctuations.Identify risk & opportunity, and identify mitigation measures to control risks.Identify contingency.Identify committed and uncommitted budget.No negative corrections due to misallocated costs.Ensure that all fields in Forecast sheets are completed (quantities, pay items, cost type, R&O etc.)Daily Costs and ProductivitiesAnalytic ability in cost control, reviewing monthly project forecasts and interogating forecasting costs to complete as required.Produce weekly cost tracking dashboard Ensure team is reviewing foreman daily dairies and dockets. Ensure quantities, labour hours and plant hours are entered into registers daily.Ensure that engineers are checking data daily and weekly for accuracy and correctness.Ensure team is producing daily costing reports.SubcontractsEnsure that scope is clearly defined for each procurement package and check interface between packages to eliminate scope gaps.Effective management of variations and ensure all variations are closed out within the calendar month in which they were raised.Pre-evaluation of all subcontractor claims prior to the 21st of each month (prior to formal submission by subcontractor).Ensure all subcontractor reporting (training, indigenous, local and female participation, ISCA) provided monthly with progress claim including supporting documentation.ProcurementRecommend/ Approve award of subcontract packages in line with approved limits of authority, whilst ensuring best value through appropriate scoping, commercial conditions and subcontractor selection.Ensure procurement process being followed by all direct reports.Target below budget for all new procurement packages or elevate budget issues.Provide monthly quantities for client progress claim.Ensure team members are closing out quantities in CivilPro by COB 25th of each month.Identify potential variations in a timely manner to ensure that contractual notifications can be sent in accordance with the time frames specified in the head contract.CommunicationTrain up SPE’s and PE’s to be able to lead interface meetings with subcontractors.Ensure effective communication between all interface teams.Communicate openly and in a professional manner with client and stakeholders.Provide clear direction and purpose to Senior Project Engineers and Project Engineers. Ensure key project information is being disseminated to wider project team. Design, Specification & TechnicalImplement “No Change” principles (unless mutually beneficial to both FHC and client)Ensure full compliance with temporary works system & procedures.Ensure direct reports have a clear understanding and good knowledge of key specifications and designs.Ensure that technical matters are resolved through the RFI process in a timely manner to prevent delays.Planning / ProgrammeReview and analyse project programs to assess performance against the contract program and ensure mitigation measures are implemented as required.Train up team to lead weekly 3 week look-ahead planning meetings with engineers and supervisors and ensure the direction and objectives of the team are clear and potential issues are identified and addressed accordingly.Oversee SPE and PE to manage daily planning meetings.Manage planning and scheduling of works for overall Project work planEnsure all Construction Procedures, Work Packs, ITP’s etc. are being adhered toNo delays due to temporary work design approval.Target zero delays due to procurement.Complete all critical path activities on or before baseline date. Major Subcontracts high level program status is occurring regularly by Subcontractor and direct staff.People, Leadership & DevelopmentServant leadership of project team and foster positive workplace practices. Focus on developing your teams understanding of the fundamentals of field engineering.Ensure junior engineers and receiving mentorship on the job. Understand what motivates and de-motivates each team member. Start and attend meetings on time. Hold team to account for being on time and completing tasks on time. Steer the development of a well organised engineering team by ensuring role clarity communicated to the SPE’/PE’s/SE’s and supervisory staff. Lead team by example and live the FHC REAL valuesLead interface management with other parties (external or internal). Focus on best for project outcomes.Complete annual reviews with reports and ensure training opportunities are provided. Conduct informal reviews of direct reports and provide positive feedback on what they are doing well.Ensure team are managing the relationship with client and construction verifiers/inspectors to ensure their objectives are delivered at no detriment to FHC.Ensure team is proactively managing and solving client issues in a timely manner.Understand applicable enterprise agreement applicable to wages employees employment terms and conditions. QA / CompletionsHold subcontractors to account for delivering quality outcomes in accordance with the contract.Ensure junior engineers are trained up and competent with QA Management System - Civilpro and lot management. Zero repeat NCR’s and no “use as is” corrective actions.RFI to be closed within 10 working days.NCR’s to be raised within 24 hours of identifying the non-conformance.NCR’s to be closed within 48 hours of completing the remedial action (date nominated in NCR.Lead the engineering team to ensure close out of all lots and conformance documentation within 5 days of completion of scope.Ensure team is managing the defect process to ensure timely identification and closeout in agreement with stakeholder expectations.
