Title of Assignment: Consultant – Support the design and implementation of projects and activitiesName of Unit/Sector: Section for Central European and Baltic States and Mediterranean Countries, Division for Transition and Developed Countries (TDC)Place of Assignment: Geneva (WIPO HQ)Expected places of travel (if applicable): N/AExpected duration of assignment: 8 months (starting from January 5, 2026)1. Context The position is located in the Section for Central European and Baltic States and Mediterranean Countries (CEBS) in the Division for Transition and Developed Countries (TDC), Department for Development Cooperation, in Regional and National Development Sector (RNDS). TDC provides advisory services, capacity building and technical assistance towards the implementation of cooperation programs and the widespread access to and use of services provided by WIPO in Central European, Baltic States, Mediterranean, Caucasian, Central Asian and Eastern European and Transition and Developed Countries.The Section for Central European and Baltic States and Mediterranean Countries is responsible for providing these above-mentioned support activities in relation to Central European, Baltic States, Balkan and some Eastern European Countries (19 countries).2. Assignment In light of the above, a professional with relevant professional experience in intellectual property, international coordination and cooperation, and project management will be required to support CEBS Section implement assigned projects and programs within the workplan. The professional should be proficient in both written and spoken English.3. Tasks/ResponsibilitiesThe Consultant will support the implementation of the following projects with the described duties:1. Project on Boosting creative economies, as well as traditional crafts through intellectual property in the Republic of Moldovaa. Assist in the project design and implementationb. Coordinate with local stakeholders on the implementation of project milestonesc. Prepare regular progress reports.2. Project on Branding and Commercialization of GIs in Serbiaa. Assist in the project design, including in the identification of selected GIs and implementation of the projectb. Coordinate with local stakeholders on the implementation of project milestonesc. Prepare regular progress reports.3. Projects related to the Promotion of WIPO Global IP Services, such as the Madrid and the Hague Systems in selected CEBS countriesa. Assist in the implementation of the projects in the countries assigned through regular contacts with stakeholdersb. Assist in the implementation of related project milestones for assigned countriesThe Consultant will also assist in preparing country briefs, talking points and records of conversation for DG, DDG and Director of TDC meetings with high-level authorities from the assigned countries.The Consultant may also perform other related duties as required.4. Deliverables/servicesUnder the supervision of the Head of the Section for Central European and Baltic States and Mediterranean Countries, TDC, DDC, RNDS the Consultant will be responsible for the following deliverables:1. For the projects mentioned above:i. Prepare and regularly update the project documents (for the projects in the Republic of Moldova and Serbia)ii. Organize regular meetings with the local stakeholders and prepare summaries.iii. Prepare and submit regular monthly project progress reports2. Update at least five (5) country briefs per month, based on thorough research submit in a timely manner briefing materials for assigned countries.3. The consultant is required to present a final report of activities developed during the time of his/her contract.5. Profile• Advanced-level university degree in law, international relations, economics, engineering, applied sciences, development studies, social sciences and humanities or related discipline.• At least (3) years of professional experience in intellectual property, innovation or international cooperation.• Sound knowledge of project design, management of monitoring, at the national or international level.• Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English. Knowledge of other languages from the CEBS region will be an advantage.• Experience with, and knowledge of the social, political, economic and legal context in the CEBS region.• Good knowledge of the international IP system.• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.• Confident user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and the internet.6. Duration of the Contract and PaymentThe Contract will run for 8 months (starting on January 5, 2026).Applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations of a daily rate in either Swiss francs, Euros, or USD.Payment will be made on a monthly basis, subject to submission of invoices by the Consultant, satisfactory completion of services and deliverables.7. Other informationICS Consultant fall outside the coverage of employment contracts for WIPO Staff members and are not subject to the WIPO Staff Regulations and Rules. The Consultant has no entitlement to vacation or sick leave, except for WIPO official holidays, or to medical insurance or staff pension. Absences from work will be deducted from the Consultant’s payment on a pro-rated basis.
