The work is fast-paced, high-impact, and requires strong analytical judgment, confidentiality, and professionalism.Position OverviewThe Contract Lawyer will provide expert legal support on matters related to contracts, procurement, governance, compliance, and regulatory analysis. This role will support the General Counsel’s office and collaborate closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure contractual and legal practices meet the highest standards of integrity, effectiveness, and accountability.Key ResponsibilitiesDraft, review, and negotiate contracts, memoranda of understanding, procurement documents, and related legal instruments.Provide legal guidance on matters related to legislation, regulatory compliance, public-sector governance, and administrative processes.Support internal procedures related to contract review, procurement oversight, and legislative analysis.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify legal risks, propose mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.Monitor legal, legislative, and regulatory developments relevant to contracting and public-sector operations.Prepare legal memoranda, risk assessments, briefings, and recommendations for senior leadership.Maintain documentation of legal workflows, contract milestones, and compliance activities to support reporting and audit readiness.Offer guidance and training to internal staff on contract management best practices, compliance protocols, and legal standards.Required Qualifications & SkillsJuris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree; licensed to practice law in Puerto Rico and/or another U.S. jurisdiction.5–8 years of experience in contracts, procurement, public-sector law, regulatory compliance, or governance.Strong ability to draft, review, and negotiate contracts and to communicate legal concepts clearly.Familiarity with Puerto Rico’s legal and regulatory environment, particularly public-sector contracting and oversight.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.High ethical standards, integrity, and a strong sense of professional responsibility.Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and adjust to evolving priorities.Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.Ability to work collaboratively with senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.Preferred QualificationsExperience with oversight, restructuring, public-finance law, or government-related legal processes.Background in contract review policies, legislative analysis, or public-sector audit frameworks.Familiarity with contract-management systems, workflows, or CRM tools.Why This Role MattersThis role offers an opportunity to support widely impactful governance and compliance efforts in Puerto Rico’s public landscape.
