Schools of Kinesiology and Health Science and Global Health, Faculty of Health The Schools of Kinesiology and Health Science and Global Health in the Faculty of Health at York University invite highly qualified applicants to apply for an Assistant Professor position in Diet and Nutrition for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. This is a Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) to the teaching stream for a 3-year term commencing July 1, 2026.The study of diet, dietary patterns, and nutritional science, from metabolism to public health, is of increased interest and importance to our students. The use of food for health promotion and disease prevention/treatment is at the forefront of personalized health strategies and health care. Moreover, issues of diet quality, food insecurity and food access, as they relate to health are becoming more prevalent and need to be further appreciated and understood locally, nationally and globally.The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses related to diet and nutrition in the focus areas listed below (in Candidate Qualifications section). They will also be expected to develop and incorporate experiential education to enhance diet and nutrition teaching in the classroom and at the program level.Candidate QualificationsDegree: a PhD completed by July 1, 2026, in Kinesiology, Health Science, Nutritional Science, Public Health, Global Health, Population Health, or a related field is required.Teaching:The successful candidate should be able to teach in several of the following focus areas (but not limited to): dietary patterns and evidence-based approaches for health promotion and disease prevention, local, national and global food/dietary policy, public health strategies for healthy eating, nutrition knowledge translation and implementation, relationships between food/nutrition and health disparities, food insecurity, and human nutrition and metabolism.A record or evident promise of excellence in undergraduate teaching and dedication to students (e.g., teaching accomplishments and accolades, use of technology and other pedagogical innovations in the classroom, strong student/peer evaluations) is required.Experience with curriculum development and universal design approaches to teaching and assessment is preferred.Experience with experiential education and the integration of applied or community-based learning is preferred.Suitability for prompt appointment to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, given the position may involve graduate teaching.Additional:Experience working in public or private sectors in relation to diet and nutrition is an asset.Hiring PoliciesSalary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.All York University positions are subject to budgetary approval.York is an Affirmative Action (AA) employer and strongly values diversity, including gender and sexual diversity, in its community.
