Job Description

Job Summary:The Controls Engineer Level 1 supports Client’s manufacturing operations by providing technical assistance for process automation systems. This role ensures that instrumentation and automation systems are designed, maintained, and operated to meet production needs in a cGMP-regulated environment. Key Responsibilities:Develop technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and automation systems.Troubleshoot and analyze issues using PI data, code review, and system diagnostics.Support resolution of equipment breakdowns and quality issues.Assist with tech transfer, process improvements, and project execution.Complete change request lot assessments to support lot release.Review SOPs, functional specifications, and work instructions.Maintain compliance with training requirements and safety protocols.Perform all work safely and meet requisite training requirements.Perform other duties as assigned. Education RequirementsBachelor of Science in an applicable engineering field or Computer Science. Required Skills & CompetenciesProficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).Strong critical thinking and logical problem-solving skills.Ability to follow job safety procedures and promote a safe work environment.Understanding of cGMP and GDP principles.Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.Strong collaboration and communication skills.Ability to work with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Engineering, and QA. Core Behavioral Competencies (Lonza Standards)Agility: Adapts thinking and behavior to support change.Business Acumen: Understands how their role contributes to Lonza’s strategy.Collaboration: Works respectfully and professionally with team members.Customer Focus: Understands internal customer needs and delivers accordingly.Driving Results: Maintains motivation and persistence to overcome challenges.Leadership: Seeks feedback and strives for continuous professional growth. Physical & Environmental DemandsOccasional bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs/ladders.Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.Requires gowning and working safely around kinetic energy sources.Mental demands include multitasking and solving technical issues.Primary work environment: Office setting
