The ClientMr. Bulgogi Korean Restaurant located in Mawson Lakes in South Australia is a well-known restaurant specialising in authentic Korean cuisine. They are an established and popular restaurant in the area with a reputation for excellent food of high quality. They are now looking for a cook with experience in Korean cuisine to join their business.The RoleYou will have the opportunity to work at an established business which will develop you professionally and to allow you to hone your skills and techniques even further. You will also have opportunities to progress in the business and play an important role in the continued success of the restaurant.This is a full time role with an annual salary of $76,700 plus superannuation.ResponsibilitiesExamine food to ensure quality and presentationCooking variety of dishes from the menu and on pans with guidance of head chefUsing different methods of cooking such as grilling, frying, steaming, boiling and roastingPrepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foodsPortioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishesRegulating temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment maintain them in good working conditionReporting to management if any maintenance is requiredMaintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipmentOrder raw materials to supplier as per business needReview menu with head chef and contribute to some seasonal changes to the menuFollow and maintain all OH&SC requirement for safe kitchen operations.Clean and maintain work area and kitchen equipmentSetting up and stocking stations with all necessary suppliesAssist with the ordering of suppliesCooking menu items in co-operation with the rest of the kitchen staffAssist in the development of the menu in consultation with the chef and the restaurant managerSupervising and training new staff as and when requiredRequirementsTo be successful in this role, you must have:Relevant qualifications in hospitality/cookery requiredAt least 2 years of commercial cooking experienceAt least 2 years' experience of cooking on the grillAt least 2 years' experience in preparing meals that cater to various dietary restrictions, such as gluten-free, vegan, or nut-free optionsAt least 2 years' experience in preparing fermented Korean foods and maintaining proper fermentation environmentsAt least 2 years' experience operating Korean kitchen equipment such as dolsot pots, deep fryer, soup burners, and hotplates.At least 2 years' experience with stock preparation and slow-simmering Korean broths.Knowledge and experience in modern and authentic Korean cuisineMust be experienced in working with chicken, beef, pork, seafood proteinsExperience in adherence to recipe & portion control, as well as ordering and stock controlAbility to follow instruction & take directionExcellent time management and attention to detailKnowledge of food safety and hygiene standardsExcellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a teamBe available to work on weekends and public holidays to deal with many customersAvailable for split shifts and weekend/public holiday work typical of hospitality
