Role: Correspondent (media/news/press)Location: remote (anywhere in the world)Type: volunteerApplication deadline: rolling basisStarting date: flexibleReference: 20251005About the Consular Affairs CenterIncubated by Yonsei University, the Consular Affairs Center is a nongovernmental, nonpartisan research institute on consular affairs and diplomatic networks.The Center's resources and publications include:- The website;- The Consular Bibliography;- The Consular Daily Press Review;- The Consular Journal (TBA);- The Consular Magazine;- The Consular Newsletter;- The Consular Repository; and- The Diplomatic and Consular Networks Database and Rankings.About the Diplomatic and Consular Networks Database and RankingsThe Center has developed a platform that tracks embassies, high commissions, consulates, and permanent missions around the world.Hosted by Esri, the global leader in GIS (geographic information system) technology, the platform was selected for the 2025 “Living Atlas of the World” – the flagship collection of authoritative data.Your role as a CorrespondentThe Center is looking for contributors across the globe to support the accuracy of the platform’s database. As a Correspondent, you would:- Monitor changes in your country's diplomatic and consular presence; and- Use a simple online form to report updates.For instance, if you are a Correspondent for Switzerland, you may see in the news that a foreign embassy has opened in Bern, or that the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs has opened a consulate in Japan. Such instances may occur a few times a year.
