Job Description

Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a Cost Analyst with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.The Cost Analyst is responsible for the preparation and reporting of project cost budgets, and the tracking, management and reporting of project expenditure to enable robust control of projects throughout their lifecycle.Assist and support in the development and maintenance of Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) for specific scopesLiaise with other Project Controls disciplines and functions, assist and support in the development of project budgets in accordance with the Basis of Estimate including statements of work scope, assumptions, man-hour estimates, narratives and review & comment of client documentsLiaise with procurement, finance and time-capture functions, and third parties as required, to ensure accurate and timely capture of procurement, materials, subcontract and labour manhour costsEnsure costs are allocated accurately in accordance with approved project WBSLiaise with engineering, procurement and construction functions, and others as required, to maintain awareness of project activities and their impact on the project budget, schedule and cost forecastFacilitate and manage the project work approval process in terms of accurate cost code allocation and initial budget set-up and approvalsAssist and support in the development and maintenance of project cost budgets using appropriate software applicationsMonitor and control cost commitments and expenditures through all phases of project lifecycleLiaise with planning as required to ensure accuracy in project cost phasing and forecastingPrepare and provide project cost performance reports in accordance with project reporting requirementsPrepare and issue updates to project cost forecastsMonitor and report on cost impact of project manpower forecastsDevelop and issue project change orders / variations in accordance with engineering and construction change notificationsFacilitate and communicate cost and schedule impact of change notificationsMonitor overall project cost performance and contingency drawdownAttend project meetings as requiredParticipate in the project cost close-out processAttend cost & estimate risk analysis sessions as requiredParticipate in Project Controls Compliance and Continuous Improvement ReviewsContribute to the delivery of cost budgets and reports whereBudgets correspond in structure and monetary value to submitted estimates, the WBS & CBSOriginal and current budgets correspond to approved estimates plus approved scope changes through the project life cycleUpdates issued in a timely manner and cost reports are accurate within the bounds of the cost systemProjects are reported accurately and with sufficient detailProject issues are highlighted in a timely mannerProject reports are issued in accordance with the contract reporting calendarScope and design development change orders are correctly identifiedChange orders are tracked and correct submittal and approval dates are entered in tracking systemChange order status is adjusted within cost reporting system as change orders are submitted and approvedPerform all other related job functions as requiredBSc in Finance or a related field from a recognised university/ACCA or equivalentPMP certification will be considered an assetIncumbents will typically have a minimum 2 years relevant cost experienceBasic knowledge of cost software and related principles, tools and techniques including budgeting, forecasting and cash-flowBasic knowledge of Project Execution Procedures for Cost Management including Change ManagementBasic understanding of WBS & CBS structures and project reporting capabilitiesBasic ability to develop project cost budgets and change estimatesBasic ability to prepare cost reportsBasic understanding of change management and associated cost and schedule processesUnderstanding of earned value application, cost and schedule variance analyses/trending and what-if scenariosUnderstanding of project management principles and techniquesUnderstanding of Cost Management, Change Control, Planning & Risk AnalysisDemonstrates commitment to Wood Values, Visions & BehavioursApplies analytical and statistical analysisAbility to work independently and as part of a teamDemonstrates effective organization & planning skillsAbility to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environmentGood communication skills both written and oralUses initiative and a proactive approach to problem solvingCommitment to continuous improvementValid Certificate of Good Character (must not be older than 6 months)Preference will be given to national citizens or permanent residents of Trinidad & TobagoThis role does not provide sponsorship.Massy Wood Group Ltd.
