COMPANY: Multinational in Information Tech/ Telecommunication POSITION: Country Lead – OperationsLOCATION: Colombo, Sri LankaSALARY: Attractive & NegotiableOVERVIEW:Our client is seeking an accomplished senior operations leader to oversee and drive the performance of their Sri Lanka Operations Division. This role serves as the key interface between regional leadership and the Sri Lankan operations teams, ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across all functions. The Country Lead will be responsible for talent development, process optimization, performance delivery, and fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and high service standards.RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead and manage a large multi-disciplinary operations team consisting of network, security, IT, and service delivery functions.Work closely with regional leadership to define, implement, and execute strategic priorities and operational plans.Oversee recruitment, development, and performance management to ensure the team has the capabilities required for long-term success.Drive achievement of KPIs and service metrics while continuously raising performance standards.Provide strong leadership to coach, guide, and build high-performing technical and operational teams.Deliver clear, timely, and executive-level communication on performance, risks, and improvement initiatives.Identify and implement opportunities for automation, AI-driven monitoring, and process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.Introduce structured learning, professional development, and succession planning frameworks.Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and internal stakeholders to strengthen workforce capability.Lead critical incident handling, ensure timely RCA submissions, and drive proactive problem management to reduce recurring issues.Establish frameworks and processes that support continual improvement, governance compliance, and operational effectiveness.Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.Ensure all operational activities align with organisational safety, governance, and compliance requirements.PRE-REQUISITES:Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Telecommunications, Engineering, or a related field.Minimum 10 years of experience leading large-scale operations teams within the technology or telecommunications sector.Proven track record in developing and executing strategic operational plans.Strong experience managing cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.Excellent leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to develop talent and uplift team capability.Exceptional communication skills with experience delivering clear executive-level reporting.Solid understanding of telecommunications networks, monitoring tools, and ITIL-based operational processes.Strong knowledge of incident, problem, and change management frameworks.Experience in automation, observability tools, and AI/ML-driven operations is an advantage.High emotional intelligence and strong decision-making capability to manage complex operational challenges.Demonstrated ability to identify root causes and implement long-term, sustainable solutions.
