Job Description

As a Credit Controller at Cromwell Polythene Ltd, you will be an integral part of our finance team, responsible for managing customer accounts and ensuring timely collection of payments. Your role will contribute to the maintenance of healthy cash flow and support the overall financial health of the business.You will engage with various stakeholders, handling communications regarding outstanding balances and disputes while building strong relationships with customers to facilitate prompt payments.The job is a pure credit control role with no progression into accounting. It would suit someone who loves credit control and who wants to develop from Credit Controller to Credit Manager within the next 5-7 years.Role And Responsibilities Credit Control Management:Issue accurate invoices and statements to customers, ensuring all details are correct and payments aredue.Monitor and manage the accounts receivable ledger, ensuring that outstanding debts are chased in atimely manner.Contact customers via phone, email, and letter to ensure prompt payment of invoices, and updatecustomer notes accordingly.Keep ledgers accurate and up to dateRegularly review and update the credit status of customers and escalate issues as necessary to seniormanagement.Perform reconciliations of customer accounts to ensure payments are accurately recorded and resolvediscrepancies. Debt Collection & Dispute Resolution:Investigate and resolve any customer disputes or queries to ensure timely paymentEscalate overdue accounts as necessary to senior management, and take appropriate action to recoverdebts, including legal action if necessary.Prepare and send regular statements and reminders to customers regarding outstanding debts Reporting & Documentation:Produce and maintain accurate reports of outstanding debt, aged debt analysis, and queriesUpdate and maintain customer accounts, ensuring the accuracy of account recordsProvide regular updates to management on the status of overdue accounts and debt collection efforts Customer Relationship Management:Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, balancing assertiveness with professionalismEnsure customers are aware of the company's credit policies and procedures. Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to ensure smooth processing of orders and paymentsCollaborate with other finance team members to ensure accurate and timely financial reportingRequirementsProven experience in a Credit Control or Accounts Receivable role (1-2 years). Strong understanding of credit control procedures and debt recovery practicesExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to build strong relationships with customers and internal teamsProficiency in using accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office (Excel)Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectivelyAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentStrong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in financial data handlingKnowledge of UK regulations regarding credit and debt collection (preferred but not essential)BenefitsPension schemePrivate medical insurance (following probation period)Regular social events
