Federally designated as a senior military college, one of the university's signature leadership programs is its 800-member Corps of Cadets on UNG's Dahlonega Campus.Job SummaryThe University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a federal work study student in the Computer Science and Information Systems department on the Dahlonega campus. The Cybersecurity Research Student Assistant position offers undergraduate students the opportunity to engage in impactful research under the direct supervision of a professor of computer science and cybersecurity at UNG. The research project focuses on addressing contemporary cybersecurity issues through innovative research in areas such as application of AI and in particular machine learning in the detection of malware, software security, and innovative digital forensics projects. Students will work on real-world cybersecurity problems through which they will gain significant research experience, which enhances their knowledge and skills for potential employment as well as possible graduate study.ResponsibilitiesConduct research in malware detection.Perform training of the machine learning models.Assist in the development of models for malware detection.Engage in digital forensics experiments.Explore tools and techniques for the detection of suspicious activities on a network.Apply cybersecurity methodologies through research activities.Required QualificationsMust be enrolled at the University of North Georgia in a minimum of six (6) credit hours to qualify as a student worker.Pursuing a BS degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity.Enrolled in no more than 12 credit hours.Have taken at least one of the UNG's Cybersecurity courses.Required Documents to AttachResumeCover LetterFederal Work Study AwardUSG Core ValuesThe University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
