Job Title: Data Analyst – Defence / Secure EnvironmentLocation: Remote (occasional travel to Bristol, around once per month)Clearance: BPSS (with eligibility for SC)Contract Type: 12-month FTCOverviewAmber Labs is a data and digital consultancy focused on delivering smart, modern solutions across government, defence, and security sectors. We’re looking for an experienced Data Analyst to support one of our key defence clients on data analysis and reporting for cost, schedule, and resource performance.You’ll work closely with project and finance teams to bring clarity to complex data, turning raw numbers into meaningful insights that help drive informed decisions. The work is largely remote, with occasional visits to Bristol for collaboration and review sessions.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyse and interpret data from multiple sources, including cost schedules, ERP systems, risk logs, and resource modelsProduce accurate, insightful reports and dashboards that support project and programme decision-makingWork closely with project controls, finance, and delivery teams to ensure data quality and consistency across systemsIdentify trends, risks, and performance gaps to support forecasting and planningSupport the development of data governance and reporting standards within a secure delivery environmentCommunicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholdersSkills & ExperienceEssential:Strong background as a Data Analyst working with cost, schedule, ERP, and risk dataExperience within defence, security, or government programmes (or similarly controlled environments)Advanced Excel skills and experience building dashboards using Power BI or similar toolsUnderstanding of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or MS Dynamics for data extraction and reportingSolid grasp of project controls data – including cost performance, scheduling, and risk metricsExcellent analytical thinking and communication skillsDesirable:Previous BPSS or SC clearanceExperience with SQL, Python, or other data manipulation toolsFamiliarity with project management or PMO frameworksUnderstanding of secure data handling and compliance principlesWhat We OfferAt Amber Labs, you’ll work alongside skilled consultants who thrive on solving complex data challenges in secure environments.
