Data & BI Team Lead

We’re looking for a Team Leader Data Management & Business Intelligence who can bring structure to data processes, strengthen the data strategy, and inspire a small but growing data team within a major player in the Belgian HR and staffing sector, bringing together over 500 employees across 70 offices and in-house teams.You’ll lead a small team of 2 experienced data professionals and guide the evolution towards a modern, cloud-based data landscape. Your mission: to turn data into actionable insights that drive smart business decisions.What You’ll DoLead, coach, and inspire the data team to deliver high-quality, reliable insights.Develop a clear data roadmap and strategy aligned with business goals, including the vision for self-service analytics (Power BI), cloud (Azure), and AI readiness.Streamline and document data processes to ensure efficiency and focus on value-added activities.Define and monitor data governance, data quality, and data architecture.Coordinate and deliver data & BI projects, such as the migration to a modern DWH and implementation of new tools.Act as a bridge between business and IT, translating complex needs into practical, data-driven solutions.Identify opportunities to innovate, automate, and optimize reporting and analytics processes.Take a hands-on role when needed — you understand the technical details and can guide your team through challenges.What are we looking for?Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Data, or Business Intelligence (or equivalent experience).5+ years of experience in Data Management or BI, with at least 2 years in a leadership or coaching role.A natural leader: structured, communicative, and results-driven.Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent communicator — you can translate technical topics into clear business insights.Fluent in Dutch, with a professional command of English.Technical SkillsSolid experience with the Microsoft BI stack (SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS).Strong understanding of data warehouse concepts, ETL processes, and data modeling (Kimball).Familiarity with ETL automation tools – experience with TimeXtender is a strong plus.Proven experience with Power BI for visualization and dashboarding.Knowledge of Python for data automation is a bonus.Experience with Microsoft Azure components such as Data Factory or Databricks.Familiarity with version control (Git) and data governance frameworks.Understanding of AI-driven data opportunities or advanced analytics.What do we offer?Location: Antwerp region (hybrid work model)Contract: Freelance or Permanent
