Data Center Operations Manager

SummaryThe Data Center Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the organisation’s mission-critical data centre facilities. This includes managing the data centre operations team, ensuring uptime and availability of all data centre systems and infrastructure, and collaborating cross-functionally to support the data centre needs of the business.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and lead the data centre operations team, including technicians, contractors and vendorsPlan, direct and coordinate all activities related to operating and maintaining data centres, server rooms and associated infrastructure (power, cooling, fire suppression, etc.)Monitor data centre performance, identify issues, and drive incident response/resolutionEnsure adherence to operational procedures, processes and service level agreementsLiaise with internal teams and external vendors for preventative maintenance, upgrades and expansionsDevelop and manage operational budgets and forecasts for the data centre facilitiesEstablish policies and standards related to data centre operations and maintenanceConduct audits and ensure compliance with industry regulations and security protocolsImplement improvements to increase efficiency, reliability and cost-effectivenessProvide training to develop and upskill the operations teamRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field7-10 years of hands-on data centre operations and infrastructure management experience3-5 years of experience managing and leading a technical operations teamExpert knowledge of data centre design, operations and infrastructure componentsProficiency with data centre monitoring, management and ticketing systemsStrong problem-solving, project management and decision-making abilitiesExcellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skillsKnowledge of data centre compliance regulations, standards and best practicesProfessional data centre certification(s) preferred (CDCP, CDFOM, etc.)This is a leadership role overseeing all aspects of highly available and redundant data centre operations.
