Our amazing Data Center team is responsible for maintaining and growing the physical infrastructure of the DigitalOcean cloud, past, present, and future. They own everything related to the physical servers and networking gear that enables our company and our customers to scale.Day-to-day duties may include everything from replacing a faulty drive in one of our servers to flying overseas to set up a brand-new Data Center from scratch. In exchange for your expertise and enthusiastic interest in DigitalOcean, we can offer you a role on a fast-growing, and collaborative team where you'll be given regular opportunities to hone your skills and learn new ones.This position is for the Toronto area and requires you to be onsite.What You'll Be Working OnSupporting data center engineers with on-site physical deploymentsRacking, stacking, and cabling servers, power distribution units, and switches under the guidance of data center engineers Replacement of server components such as CPU, RAM, drives and boardsSubmitting RMA to equipment manufacturers, shipping and receiving gear to and from remote locations and vendors.Work through assigned tickets and work requests effectively, performs basic diagnosis and repairs to hardware in line with internal SLAsAssists data center engineers in debugging network, hardware, and Linux OS-related issuesAssists with asset management, tracks and monitors data center hardware and component inventoryWhat We’ll Expect From YouHands-on experience with servers, hardware, and networking is preferred but not essentialPassionate about data center hardware and infrastructureInterest in networking, hardware, and Linux OSExcellent verbal and written communication skills, collaborative nature, and a friendly can-do attitudeCan perform a basic level of troubleshooting preferred but not essentialA strong desire and aptitude for solving problems A valid driver’s license (must be comfortable with driving)Willing to receive guidance from senior engineers and techniciansAbility to logically analyze and solve problemsAbility to travel domestically and internationally (10% - 15% travel)Willingness to participate in an on-call rotationAbility to be on your feet all-dayAbility to lift objects up to 50 lbsAbility to be on-call outside of business hours for escalations as neededWhy You’ll Like Working for DigitalOceanWe innovate with purpose.
