Data Engineer

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES The Data Engineer will be responsible for: ● Coding, testing, and deploying data engineering pipelines and associated automation in cloud-based environments in accordance with best practices and security standards ● Supporting the development and maintenance of data pipelines that feed machine learning models for weather, energy resources, and energy market prices, with a focus on North American electricity markets ● Working with senior data engineers, data scientists, and the product team to identify, capture, collect, and format data from external sources and internal systems ● Assisting in building and maintaining data pipelines for external data sources ● Contributing to monitoring and maintenance of data infrastructure and pipeline performance ● Supporting the development and documentation of data engineering solutions and processes ● Troubleshooting data pipeline issues and coordinating with team members on resolutionsWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR ● A passion for building solutions that drive the energy transition ● at least 1-2 years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent academic background ● Strong SQL skills and knowledge of database concepts; PostgreSQL experience a plus ● Experience or strong familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Amazon Web Services (AWS) ● Experience with gridded or geospatial data sets is a plus (e.g.-NetCDF, GRIB, Zarr, etc) ● Working knowledge of Python and Pandas for data processing and scripting ● Exposure to data warehousing or data lakes concepts ● B.S. in progress or completed in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, an engineering discipline, a related field, or equivalent professional experience ● A strong problem-solver with good communication skills and a commitment to continuous learning ● Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to grow as an engineer
