If you’re ready for a career where excitement, purpose, and impact collide—we want to meet you.What You’ll DoThe Data Engineer is an official of INDYCAR whose primary role is to develop and support the infrastructure for reporting and analysis of hybrid, engine, and car data. Using data from the ECU and car data loggers, you’ll generate session reports to assist specialist engineers in monitoring the health and performance of each car.This position also assists the Managing Director of Engine Development in enforcing INDYCAR Rules and Regulations as they pertain to Teams and Engine Manufacturers.The Data Engineer will additionally operate and refine a track simulation tool—working in cooperation with a simulation partner—to aid engineering and regulatory decisions.Your ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and optimize tools that analyze and distribute hybrid, engine, and chassis data from Engine Manufacturers and Teams.Process and validate large datasets to identify performance trends, reliability issues, or potential rule violations.Operate a track simulation tool to aid engineering decisions pertaining to setting of regulations and future car design.Collaborate with Engine Manufacturers, Teams, and INDYCAR engineers to ensure accurate data capture and interpretation.Provide timely reporting and data-driven insights following practice, qualifying, and race sessions.Perform additional duties as assigned by the Managing Director, Engine Development.What You BringWe’re looking for someone who’s ready to bring great effort every day and is committed to growing with us.Required Experience & SkillsThe person who is selected for this position should be a proactive, efficient, flexible, resilient, organized, team player Strong communication and collaboration skills.Strong understanding of race car systems, data acquisition, and control systems.Proficiency in data handling and programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or Visual Basic) and familiarity with Microsoft Office tools.Experience with simulation environments or vehicle modeling tools is a plus.Experience with Pi Toolbox, ATLAS or similar data analysis tools and software is a benefit.Has aptitude for learning new software programs.Must have a professional attitude, demeanor, and ability to relate to coworkers.Strong attention to detail and is thorough in accomplishing all tasks with concern for all areas involved, no matter how small.Able to adapt quickly according to the environment and the often-changing demands of the job.Must be able to interact with many people internally and externally, effectively communicate with co-workers, and be a company representative daily.Must have the ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision and motivated to do or achieve something because of one's own enthusiasm or interest, without needing pressure from others.Ability to prepare checklists, manage administrative paperwork and files, keep thorough and accurate records, database management, and design forms.EducationBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field.2+ years of professional motorsport or high-performance engineering experience preferred (recent graduates with strong internship or co-op experience will also be considered).LeadershipThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.FLEXIBILITY & TRAVELStandard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PMExtended hours required during race weekends and key event periods (especially May)Travel to some NTT INDYCAR Series Event, Official Tests and other tests as required.Our teams work together to create flexibility that supports life in and out of workPHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Extended periods of standing or walking (as needed)Comfort working indoors/outdoors and around event noiseWORK ENVIRONMENTFast-paced, collaborative office and event settingsBenefits & PerksWe take care of our team with a competitive benefits package that includes:Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) with 100% company match up to 5%Paid vacation, personal, and sick days + 12 paid holidaysGenerous paid parental leave and tuition assistanceOn-site fitness center and wellness programsDiscounts on meals, gear, and moreEQUAL OPPORTUNITYPenske Entertainment is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
