Job DetailsVA Corp - Manassas, VA Fully Remote Full Time 4 Year Degree Professional ServicesDescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to play a crucial role in our innovative team supporting a DoD Agency and the establishment of our client's Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Office. This position will involve strategic consulting and implementation of best practices in data engineering, data management, and data quality.Key ResponsibilitiesWork closely with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic approaches for data engineering, management, and quality best practicesConsult with stakeholders at various levels within the agency to inform data architecture and storage decisions in preparation for future AI and ML projectsDesign and propose scalable database architectures and ETL pipelines to support large-scale applications and future AI/ML initiativesLead data engineering workstreams, coordinating with multiple teams to ensure alignment with the Chief Data and AI Office's objectivesSupport the development of comprehensive data governance frameworks and policiesAnalyze current data infrastructure and recommend improvements to support AI and ML readinessPlan and execute database re-architecture projects to optimize performance and future-proof data synchronization across environmentsImplement best practices for data quality, security, and governance in line with federal regulations and standardsMentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing initiatives within the Chief Data and AI OfficeCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data from multiple systems and provide advanced analytics solutionsParticipate in high-level meetings and presentations to communicate data strategies and progress to agency leadershipQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Secret (or above) Security ClearanceBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field; relevant on the job experience preferred3+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles, with a focus on strategic data initiativesStrong proficiency in SQL, Python, and data modeling techniquesProficiency in Microsoft Power Platform to include Power BI and Power Apps development and data modelingExperience with big data technologies such as DatabricksExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS and AzureExpertise in database management systems and ETL processesKnowledge of data governance principles and best practicesFamiliarity with AI and ML concepts and their data requirementsExperience in federal consulting or government contractingStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of machine learning and deep learning conceptsFamiliarity with natural language processing (NLP) and large language models (LLM)Understanding of federal data regulations and compliance requirementsExperience in establishing or supporting data offices in government agenciesKey CompetenciesProactive approach to identifying and solving data-related challengesAdaptability and willingness to navigate complex government environmentsCommitment to continuous learning and staying updated on emerging data and AI technologiesExcellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersLeadership and influencing skills to drive change across various organizational levelsStrategic thinking and ability to align data initiatives with broader organizational goalsThe ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with proactive and strategic thinking to support the establishment and growth of the Chief Data and AI Office, while effectively collaborating with stakeholders across the government agency to prepare for future AI and ML initiatives.Echelon Services, LLC is an equal opportunity employer.
