Job Description

We are looking for a Data Protection Officer (DPO) to help shape and implement our company’s global privacy and compliance strategy.As a Data Protection Officer at MyHeritage, you’ll ensure that our operations and products comply with applicable data protection laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), U.S. privacy acts such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and relevant local legislation. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to the business on privacy and compliance matters, working closely with cross-functional teams to design privacy-compatible solutions, build internal policies and procedures, and foster a culture of privacy awareness throughout the company. You will join the company’s Legal team and report to MyHeritage’s General Counsel.What you’ll doAct as point of contact with supervisory authorities and internal teamsProvide legal advisory services in connection with various compliance-related legislation and guidelines, both domestic and globalIdentify and evaluate the company’s data processing activitiesProvide advice and conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)Monitor data management procedures and compliance within the companyParticipate in meetings with managersAdvise on, negotiate and keep track of the company’s various Data Processing AgreementsMaintain records of processing operationsEnsure we address all queries from data subjects within legal timeframes Maintain updated data protection policiesArrange for training on privacy compliance for employeesFollow up with changes in law and issue recommendations to ensure complianceCollaborate with product teams to design new products and features in a privacy-compatible wayDevelop and implement internal compliance programs and procedures to align with applicable legislationFoster company-wide privacy awareness through training and guidanceWhat you bringProven experience as legal counsel on compliance, data protection and privacySolid knowledge of various compliance-related principles, such as GDPR, U.S. privacy acts, and national data protection lawsFamiliarity with computer security systemsAbility to handle confidential informationEthical, with the ability to remain impartialOrganizational skills with attention to detailAbout MyHeritageMyHeritage is the leading global platform for family history.
