Our Data & Analytics division coordinates and drives data, analytics and AI projects across Munich Re. Our ambition is to lead digital transformation and create new business and strategic options for Munich Re and our clients through data, people and technology.The AI department enables and supports business & central functions in AI and GenAI by exploring, developing and implementing AI tools and platforms.We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist / AI Engineer for our AI Implementation Team. In this capacity, you will build and deploy (Gen-)AI products and help design our GenAI infrastructure, playing a key role in realizing our ambition.Your JobServe as the technical lead for cross-functional GenAI/ML projects defining patterns, reviewing code, and ensuring robust, scalable deployments that help our central units generating more and better business.Build AI capabilities and infrastructure to ensure efficient use of GenAI, NLP, and ML from prototype to production.Support business units in applying the latest (Gen-)AI methods and act as an expert for AI know-how, tools and methods.Communicate complex AI concepts and strategic insights effectively across various stakeholder levels, tailoring messages to different audiences and supporting decision-making.Identify and assess AI innovations and technologies that could offer advantages in the insurance space.Network with existing quantitative units, and with IT to create an AI community.Ensure technical excellence and scalability of our AI solutions.Your ProfileUniversity degree (Master’s or higher) in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.Extensive theoretical and practical expertise in GenAI and deep learning techniques. Strong knowledge of related technologies, software, and the latest developments in models, libraries, and frameworks.At least 3 years of hands-on experience in AI, Machine Learning, Data Science in a professional setting, ideally with a focus on AI.Proficiency in coding (Python), AI/ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, JAX), Large Language Models (LLMs) and LLM Applications (like Agentic/Agent setups).Deep knowledge and experience with cloud platforms and AI infrastructure (e.g., Azure, Databricks, Kubernetes) as well as Software Development Lifecycle and Agile Project management in AI/Data Science/Research environments.Strong analytical skills and a strategic mindset with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex data.Communication skills, with the ability and willingness to convey complex AI concepts to diverse stakeholders and drive cross-functional collaboration.Proven ability to collaborate across teams, particularly in business-driven environments.Experience in the insurance, risk management, or financial services industry is a plus.Fluency in English (spoken and written) and willingness to travel as needed.Application InstructionsPlease apply through our online portal and upload your CV, as well as your academic reference letters, including school certificates, graduation certificates and transcripts of record for any degrees.
