We are an organization of people helping people!Key CompetenciesStrong ability to think critically and solve problems.Timely and meticulous attention to verbal and written communication.Devotion to earning and maintaining member trust.Attentiveness to professionalism in appearance and action.What You Can ExpectGoldenwest Credit Union is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist/Data Engineer with deep experience in financial data, risk analytics, and predictive modeling to lead the migration of enterprise data assets from on-premises systems into Snowflake, and upon completion of the migration process, manage and maintain the Snowflake data warehouse, build and maintain data models, and participate in predictive analytics initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data governance, risk management, and advanced analytics, paired with technical expertise in SQL, Python, and modern cloud-based data platforms.Location, Schedule Availability & Salary Information5167 Adams Avenue, Washington Terrace, UT 84405Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, flexible scheduleFull-time, 40 hours per weekOn call evenings and weekends for emergency job related issues, as needed.Guaranteed Base Wage + Bonus, commensurate with experienceEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and execute migration strategies to move structured and unstructured data from on-premises databases into Snowflake.Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading using SQL, Python, and other relevant tools (e.g., Matillion, Fivetran, dbt, Azure Data Factory, SSIS, etc.).Ensure data integrity, governance, and security throughout migration and integration processes.Collaborate with business leaders, analysts, and cross-functional teams to align data models and reporting needs with Snowflake architecture.Convert legacy SAS, SQL, and other data workflows into modern Snowflake-compatible processes.Develop reconciled financial trending datasets (e.g. GL-level, cash flow, delinquency, loss curves, etc.) for downstream use in forecasting, pricing, and risk models.Create high-quality data structures for predictive modeling, machine learning, and BI reporting.Conduct performance tuning of Snowflake queries and pipelines for large-scale data sets.Mentor junior analysts and engineers on best practices in data migration, governance, modeling, and analytics.Provide ongoing support to auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders by ensuring reliable and transparent data pipelines.Experience, Education & CertificationBachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or related field (Master’s/MBA preferred).Proven experience in data engineering, governance, and analytics within financial services, risk, or lending.Strong command of SQL, Python, R, SAS, and modern business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Domo, Sigma, Tableau, etc.).Hands-on experience with data pipeline tools (e.g. MS SQL Server, Snowflake, Matillion, Fivetran, dbt, ADF, Prefect, Airflow, Great Expectations, etc.).Familiarity with decisioning and loan management systems, credit bureaus, and other financial data sources.Expertise in classical and machine learning approaches for predictive modeling and risk scoring.Demonstrated success in migrating large-scale, business-critical datasets into Snowflake.Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical work into actionable business insights.Preferred SkillsBackground in risk-based pricing, financial forecasting, and portfolio analytics.Experience supporting regulatory, audit, or security data requirements.Familiarity with modern identity and fraudFamiliarity with alternative credit bureau datasets.Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance in financial institutions.
