This role combines deep hands-on expertise with enterprise-level influence, tackling challenging modeling, architecture, and design work while setting standards for technical excellence. This role partners with executives and senior stakeholders to translate ambiguous business needs into structured analytic projects and measurable outcomes. The role also mentors and develops data scientists, fosters innovation through emerging methods and tools, and represents the team in strategic planning and leadership discussions.Responsibilities And QualificationsLead the design and execution of the organization’s most complex and high-impact analytics initiatives, personally contributing to hands-on modeling and solution development.Translate ambiguous, enterprise-level business challenges into actionable projects and quantitative frameworks.Define team-wide technical standards, modeling practices, and architectural guidelines to ensure scalability and consistency.Partner with executives and senior stakeholders to shape the analytics roadmap and influence enterprise decision-making.Evaluate and introduce emerging methods, tools, and vendor solutions to expand team capabilities.Measure and communicate the impact of analytics initiatives through ROI and strategic outcome reporting.Mentor and develop DS1 and DS2 team members, fostering growth in both technical expertise and problem-solving skills.Serve as a strategic proxy for the manager when needed, representing the team in leadership forums and cross-functional planning sessions.SkillsRecognized expert in quantitative methodologies, advanced statistical modeling, and machine learning, capable of solving the organization’s most complex problems.Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguous business needs into structured, actionable analytic projects.Strong domain knowledge with the ability to shape enterprise strategy and influence senior leadership.Exceptional communication and executive storytelling skills, including presenting complex concepts to non-technical audiencesDemonstrated success mentoring and developing other data science professionals at all levels.Experience driving team-wide standards for modeling, architecture, and technical excellence.KnowledgeExpert-level proficiency in advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, and experimental design, with the ability to select and implement appropriate techniques for complex, ambiguous problems.Deep understanding of data architecture, systems design, and technical standards for scalable analytics.Strong healthcare domain knowledge with experience shaping strategies around claims processing, provider networks, and population health management.Ability to translate business strategy into analytic roadmaps and influence executive-level decisions through data-driven insights.Recognized expertise in mentoring and developing other data science professionals.Proficiency in data visualization and BI tool development (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)Experience7 plus years of progressive experience in data science or advanced analytics, with demonstrated enterprise-level impact.Proven experience in innovation, vendor evaluation, and analytics strategy.Education And CertificationsBA/BS in a quantitative, technical discipline (mathematics, statistics, finance, economics or public health), or related backgrounds required. Graduate degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or related field preferred.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and see.
