This is a pivotal opportunity for a dynamic leader to shape the future of a law school dedicated to expanding access to legal education through flexible, correspondence-based pathways.Preference will be given to applicants with prior experience serving as Dean at a law school. Please note that PAUSL is in the final stages of registration with the California Bar and is expected to commence classes in September 2026. By fostering cross-border legal understanding and embracing diverse viewpoints, our institution becomes a platform for shaping thoughtful, solution-oriented professionals prepared to engage with the world’s most pressing challenges. Location: Los Angeles, CaliforniaJob Type:Full-time at-will employment Monday through Friday, with some evenings and weekends as required Salary:Negotiable depending upon qualification and experience. Benefits:Benefits include fourteen (14) paid leave days each year, accrued over the course of the year plus five (5)  U.S. holidays (Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Independence Day, and Memorial Day). After three years of service an additional four paid leave days are added.  Additionally, parking is provided. Professional development is also offered including paid membership in key organizations like the Los Angeles Bar, the California Bar and the American Bar Association. We also offer health insurance (up to half).Work Environment:Our school operates as a correspondence law school, where student visits are extremely rare and the office environment is primarily centered around staff interactions. Located in the Equitable Building—a landmark in Koreatown—our campus offers a remarkably pleasant space, near public transportation and vibrant restaurants, supported by a large private parking garage. Standard office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Staff responsibilities typically remain within these hours, with minor exceptions; most notably during the annual inspection conducted by the California Bar, when limited additional availability may be required.Key Responsibilities: Visionary Leadership and Strategic Planning. The Dean will articulate and implement a compelling vision that elevates PAUSL’s reputation and impact. Working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students, the Dean will lead strategic planning initiatives and foster broad participation to achieve institutional goals.Financial Stewardship and Resource Development. The Dean will ensure PAUSL’s financial sustainability by managing budgets responsibly, pursuing innovative revenue opportunities, and strengthening fundraising efforts to support long-term growth.Academic Excellence and Faculty Development. The Dean will focus on attracting, and retaining distinguished faculty who excel as scholars, educators, and practitioners. The Dean will also conduct reviews and evaluations to strengthen the capabilities of the current faculty.Regulatory Compliance and Student Success. The Dean will oversee adherence to California law school registration requirements and champion student achievement within PAUSL’s correspondence-based JD program.Community Building and Staff Engagement. The Dean will cultivate a collegial and inclusive environment that values communication, respect, and collaboration. Supporting faculty and staff well-being, professional growth, and institutional priorities will be central to this role.Innovation and Technology Integration. The Dean will advance PAUSL’s leadership at the intersection of law and technology, preparing students to understand both the evolving role of technology in legal practice and its broader societal implications.Student Advocacy and Educational Support. The Dean will promote a vibrant and diverse student experience by expanding clinical and experiential learning opportunities. Building strong ties with employers across sectors will help students adapt to shifts in the legal profession and the legal recruiting market.External Relations and Public Service. The Dean will strengthen alumni engagement, deepen connections with the local community, and emphasize service to the public.
