The department also has an important role in building a stronger, more secure nation through our national resilience, risk, and national security activity. Government House is the DPMC business unit that supports the Governor-General of New Zealand. It conducts stewardship/kaitiakitanga of the properties in Wellington and Auckland, which together are assets worth $190.

2 million; provides personal support to the Governor-General and their family; shapes, plans, and implements a busy programme of official engagements and functions; and uses all kinds of media to make this known to the public of New Zealand. About the Role | Mō te TūrangaWe have a vacancy for a Maintenance and Contract Administrator in our Facilities and Asset Management (F&AM) team. This is an exciting, dynamic position that plays a pivotal role in the co-ordinated and smooth running of day-to-day maintenance and supports contract-related activities of Government House, Wellington.

This is a role where each day will be different, busy, and you will quickly become knowledgeable of all the F&AM team workflow. This role supports the Team Leader F&AM and Government House by managing day-to-day maintenance activities at the House, scheduling works with our key relationships, including recurring maintenance providers. You will be expected to provide procurement and contract administration support for the team, maintain accurate data, and manage supplier payment workflow with efficiency and accuracy.

Whilst the role is based in Wellington, you will be expected to work closely with the Maintenance and Contract Administrator in Auckland, with travel to Auckland being required on occasions. The entire Government House team supports the programme of the Governor-General, so we all pitch in where needed to ensure the successful delivery of the programme with back-of-house support as determined by the Team Leader F&AM. About You | Mōu AnōTo succeed in this role, you will bringAt least two years' experience in a F&AM support administration role or similar.

Strong communication skills, including customer service skills. Experience with written agreements, contractual arrangements, and competent business writing skills. Competence with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and MS Projects. Understanding of the Government Rules of Sourcing. A passion for team development, motivation, and the ability to effectively engage across all levels of Government House. Highly organised and able to manage and prioritise work programmes. Experience in stakeholder management to support the delivery of high-quality outcomes. Willingness to pitch in to support function and event setups and simple and safe maintenance tasks where required.
