We’re looking for a Design Engineer to become part of our dynamic Mechanical Engineering team within Integrated Systems & Solutions.This role is based on-site in Gdynia, Poland. After completing the onboarding period and gaining sufficient independence in the role, we offer the flexibility to work in a hybrid model.As Design Engineer, your work will focus on these responsibilities: In this role, you’ll play a key part in feasibility studies, evaluate ship designs, and contribute to cutting-edge initiatives aligned with Wärtsilä’s decarbonization strategy. Your work will involve preparing high-quality engineering reports, supporting new-build projects, and staying ahead of the latest trends in marine electrification. You’ll also work closely with colleagues across sales, innovation, and development to drive projects that focus on alternative fuels, hybrid systems, and electrification to keep pace with emerging technologies.If you’re ready to take on new challenges and help lead the way toward a cleaner, greener marine industry, we’d love to hear from you!Main requirements in this role are:Bachelor's or master's degree in Shipbuilding, Machinery or Ocean EngineeringNot less than 3 years of experience in Marine Industry / Marine System or Mechanical EngineeringTechnical knowledge in Ship Integration, Marine Systems and Interface IdentificationKnowledge of classification society regulations and other maritime institutions requirements regarding machinery and piping design alternative fuels, as well as emerging market trends in the maritime industry would be additional assets.Pro-user of 2D CAD software.Experience in using 3D software related to the design of pipelines and machinery systems on ships would be an additional asset.Fluent written and spoken English (including marine and technical vocabulary)To be successful in the position we expect you to have:Good collaboration skills, customer service mindset and out of the box thinking team player with a willingness to work across organizational boundaries (teams and business lines)Proactive attitude toward professional development and flexibility in a dynamic work environmentAbility to handle a few projects simultaneously, work independently and collaborate with a multi-disciplined and international teamWhy you and us?
