The role combines infrastructure automation, database reliability, and operational excellence to ensure seamless performance of critical trading systems. This position bridges software engineering, database administration, and operations to guarantee high availability, low latency, and secure handling of trading data. This role requires in-depth expertise in low-latency, high throughput systems, with a focus on architecture, performance tuning, and scalability.Key ResponsibilitiesManage relational databases (PostgreSQL) supporting order management, market data, and trade execution. Optimize queries, indexes, and database schemas for low-latency, high throughput workloads. Implement backup, replication, failover, and disaster recovery strategies for mission-critical trading data. Monitor database performance and proactively resolve bottlenecks. Ensure appropriate database and infrastructure security controls, including encryption, access management, and audit logging. Support compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., MiFID II, FINRA, GDPR) related to data retention and operational transparency. Your manager will share details and expectations of your team's regular cadence of working locations.About youStrong experience with Linux-based systems, scripting (Bash, Python), and automation tools. Proficiency in CI/CD tooling (GitHub actions or similar). Expertise in administering large-scale relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) with replication and high-availability setups. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Knowledge of networking, monitoring tools (Prometheus, ELK, Datadog), and performance tuning for low-latency environments. Strong troubleshooting skills in high-pressure, real-time trading environments. Ability to live the Pepperstone values. Committed to ongoing learning and development.
