Position OverviewThe Corporate Communications team at Apollo, which leads all communications, corporate brand and corporate marketing activities globally is seeking a new team member who is a self-starter with strong writing and media relations skills, excellent project management skills and exceptional judgement. This role will sit in the Tokyo office and cover Apollo’s Asia-Pacific platform.The ideal candidate for this role is an accomplished communications professional with a keen intellect, tireless work ethic, and a broad world view combined with creativity, vision and ambition Hands-on experience with M&A communications, crisis management and special situations, and organizational communications is essential. This professional will have high EQ, mental agility, and the confidence and executive presence to earn the trust of Apollo's leaders.The Role Encompasses a Broad Spectrum Of Responsibilities, IncludingWorking with Apollo executives and teams across business lines to develop and implement strategic, proactive media plans and tactics to support corporate and divisional business and marketing objectives and drive measurable resultsContinuously identifying ways to differentiate the Apollo platform to key stakeholders throughout APACTaking a proactive role in media engagement, driving story ideas, initiatives and issues managementAlign closely with global teams – work with colleagues based in New York, London and Asia to ensure consistency of strategic priorities globallyCreating informative, persuasive and concise internal and external communicationsPlanning and executing both internal and external speaking engagements on behalf of senior executivesDrafting press releases, briefing notes, talking points, internal and external contentHelp manage the relationships with local agencies, serving as their day-to-day contactAd-hoc projects, as neededQualifications & ExperienceMinimum of 10 years of relevant experience in hands-on media relations and required expertise in financial, transactional and corporate communicationsProven ability to consistently make sound judgments, engage and build trust with senior executives and effectively collaborate with othersPossess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independentlyHave a track-record establishing, building and managing meaningful relationships with media, key stakeholders, our executives, journalists and global colleaguesExperience in managing reputational risk and crisis communicationsEffective manager of external agenciesHighly entrepreneurial and self-motivated who thrives in a dynamic and passionate work environmentTech enthusiast with hunger to learn and leverage AI tools to reshape ways of workingExperience living or studying overseas, or working for international firms valuedNative level Japanese highly preferredPersonal CharacteristicsDemonstrates a flexible and adaptable work style, responding quickly and efficiently under tight deadlinesStrong written and verbal communication and organizational skills; and experience or deep understanding of communicating across varied platforms, content types and technologiesExperience in developing metrics to quantify results to measure the team’s effectivenessAcute attention to detail, ability to multi-task, willingness and desire to learn and work well within a team are criticalUnquestionable professional and personal integrityA team-player and self-starter, with a positive attitude and excellent work ethicStrong project management skillsAbout ApolloApollo is a high-growth, global alternative asset manager.
