BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH) is looking for Director, Center for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) and Nutrition (CNCDN)Job Description / ResponsibilityThe BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH) at BRAC University was established in 2004 as an educational and research institution focusing on the integral areas of teaching, research, and services. The goal of the school is not only to impart knowledge but also to act as a center of excellence in knowledge creation through research and training that connects with practice.BRAC JPGSPH is looking for a Director, CNCDN for the school.Purpose: As a Director, you need to provide strategic leadership and vision for research, education, training and policy initiatives addressing the growing burden of non-communicable diseases and nutrition challenges in Bangladesh and the global south. This senior management position requires an accomplished public health professional who can advance the CNCDN mission through strategic leadership, innovative research, capacity building, partnership development, guideline and quality standard development, and evidence-based policy advocacy.Key Job responsibilities:Strategic Leadership and VisionImplement the long-term strategic roadmap for CNCDN that aligns with national and global priorities in NCD and nutrition, and the goals of BRAC JPGSPH and BRAC UniversityLead the CNCDN research agenda, identifying emerging priorities and opportunities in the area of NCD and nutritionFoster a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration within the CNCDN and JPGSPHRepresent CNCDN at national and international forums, enhancing its visibility and impactResource Mobilization and PartnershipLead grant-writing efforts and proactively identify funding opportunities from national and international organizationsStrengthen existing partnerships and cultivate new ones with academic and research institutions in Bangladesh and abroadContribute to grant-writing efforts in partnership with other research centers/hubs in JPGSPH, BRAC University, BRAC and external organizationsBuild and maintain strategic partnerships with government ministries, UN agencies, international organizations, and civil society organizationsEngage with regional and global networks focused on NCDs and nutritionResearch and ScholarshipDirect and conduct high-quality research on NCDs and nutrition-related issues, with emphasis on population health, health systems, digital health, and policy frameworksMentor junior faculty and research staff in developing their research portfoliosEnsure rigorous research standards and ethical practices across all CNCDN activitiesProvide assistance to a team of manuscript writing cluster leadsPublish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and disseminate research through policy briefs and other channelsContribute to the JPGSPH research as a member of the research strategy teamAcademic Programs and Capacity BuildingContribute to teaching in MPH, EMPH, PhD, and short courses related to NCDs and nutritionDevelop new academic courses, certificates, or training programs to build workforce capacitySupervise graduate students' internship and dissertationsDevelop and deliver training programs for government officials, NGO staff, and health professionalsContribute to the JPGSPH academic mission as a member of the academic councilPolicy Engagement and AdvocacyTranslate research findings into actionable policy recommendationsProvide technical assistance to government and other stakeholders on NCD and nutrition policiesand programsParticipate in national and international policy dialogues and technical working groupsSupport national and international evidence-based advocacy efforts to address NCDs andmalnutritionAdministrative and Financial ManagementOversee the CNCDN operations, budget, resource allocation, and human resources operationEnsure financial sustainability through diversified funding streamsManage grants and contracts in compliance with donor, university and university grant commissionrequirementsManage a multidisciplinary team of researchers, research support staff, and administrative staffEnsure all CNCDN activities comply with JPGSPH and BRAC U policy and other relevant policiesEducational RequirementsPhDBachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)RequiredPhD in Public Health, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Health Policy, or related fieldPreferredMedical degree (MBBS) in addition to doctoral degreeExperience RequirementsAt least 10 year(s)The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s):University,NGOAdditional RequirementsRequiredMinimum 10 years of progressive professional experience in public health or relevant fieldDemonstrated expertise in NCDs and nutrition through substantial research contributionsStrong publication record in peer-reviewed journalsProven track record of securing competitive research grantsExperience of working in low- and middle-income country contexts, preferably in South AsiaExcellent written and oral communication skills in English and BengaliStrong interpersonal and team management skillsStrong network within the global public health and nutrition communityEstablished relationships with international funding agenciesExpert knowledge of Bangladesh`s health system and policy environmentPreferredExperience in academic administration or center/program managementDeep understanding of research administration and budgetingExperience with translating research to practiceAt least 5 years in leadership rolesTrack record of mentoring early-career researchers
