Read more careers.bms.com/working-with-us .Position SummaryThe Director EHS - Operations Support provides environment, health & safety (EHS) leadership, direction and support to the BMS internal manufacturing network, serving as a strategic and operational partner across the Global Product Development & Supply (GPS) organization.The role is a critical interface between Corporate EHS, Business Unit, and site operations, ensuring that global EHS strategies are effectively implemented, risks are proactively managed, and performance continuously improves across all manufacturing locations.Reporting to the Executive Director EHS - GPS and S-CoE, The Director EHS - Operations Support works closely with Business Unit and site leaders, global and local EHS teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance, and to embed a culture of safety and environmental stewardship in our worldwide manufacturing operations.The role demands a forward-thinking leader with a proven track record of operating at a global scale, driving continuous EHS improvement, and creating a safety-first culture.Key ResponsibilitiesPrimary Point-of-Contact Act as the primary EHS liaison to the GPS business units (GBU, CTO & PD) and site network, translating corporate EHS goals and initiatives into actionable plans tailored to the operational realities of manufacturing sites.Trusted Partner Build strong working relationships with EHS, BU, site and functional leaders, and provide expert advice on EHS risks, performance metrics, compliance gaps, and improvement opportunities. Represent BU and site views in EHS strategy discussions.Leadership Provide EHS leadership across the assigned areas, partnering with the business to ensure comprehensive EHS support is delivered and robust systems in place to effectively manage risk and ensure compliance, while driving continuous improvement and promoting a culture of safety.Site Support & Program Implementation Assist sites in meeting internal EHS performance targets and external regulatory obligations and support deployment of global EHS programs, standards, and tools at site level. Facilitate cross-site collaboration and knowledge sharing to accelerate EHS best practices and innovation.Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement Monitor, analyze and report on EHS performance data, audit results, and leading indicators across manufacturing sites to identify trends, gaps, and areas for intervention to reduce incidents and environmental impact.Compliance & Risk Management Support sites in understanding and complying with applicable EHS regulations and company standards.Safety Culture Development Engage and influence colleagues at all levels, to promote a proactive safety culture across the organization, fostering awareness, training, and engagement. Lead safety training and communication efforts, where required, to ensure employees are equipped with the knowledge and skills to work safely.Development Provide coaching and support the development of EHS colleagues.Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in EHS management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role at global or multi-regional level, preferably in the pharma, biotech or life-science sectors.Proven experience in leading EHS in a large, complex organization with multiple regions and diverse operations.Strong knowledge of global EHS regulations, standards, and industry best practices.Demonstrated success in driving EHS performance improvement at site and above-site level.Skills & Key Competencies Leadership & Influence Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire others at all levels.Strategic Thinking Strong capability to support the development of long-term safety strategies while maintaining focus on day-to-day operations.Innovation proven track record of developing and implementing innovative, best-in-class and scalable EHS solutionsTechnical Expertise Expert knowledge and experience in key EHS topics.Risk Management Expertise in identifying and managing risks across various sectors and operational environments.Communication & Collaboration Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across geographies. Additional incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility) may be available. The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills, where the job is performed, the employee's work schedule, job-related knowledge, and experience.
