Job Description

The Group International Business Director is responsible for the profitable growth and management of the organization’s international markets. The role involves developing and implementing market strategies, growing existing markets, penetrating new ones, and setting and delivering market and customer plans. Success in this position is measured by achieving revenue and profit targets, strengthening the company’s presence in international markets, and building solid relationships with key global partners, capitalizing on the global business acumen, market knowledge, and cross-cultural communication. The incumbent also leads and develops the international team’s commercial capabilities to ensure effective execution and sustainable business growth.Implement international expansion strategies.Develop annual plans to drive growth and increase market share in existing international markets. This includes the required market data & readings, the winning categories, and the right GTM plan.Formulate expansion plans for entering new markets and strengthening the company’s global footprint.Define specific objectives to enhance the company’s presence, distribution, and profitability in targeted markets, guiding and coaching Market Development Managers.Collaborate and ensure the right cross-functional interaction with the relevant internal departments to ensure seamless execution of market strategies.Provide clear market penetration plans and recommendations to Market Development Managers for new market entry.Develop and manage budget requirements for each targeted market, submitting proposals for final approval by the CEO and Board of Directors.Lead the International Business department in executing strategies and goals aligned with the company’s broader vision.Manage an international team across various locations, fostering collaboration and unity within the International Business Division.Identify new business opportunities within existing markets in partnership with the International Business team.Explore prospects for entering new markets, aligning with international business objectives.Supervise Country Managers and Market Development Managers, offering support to overcome challenges and capitalize on opportunities.Establish and maintain robust relationships with key international partners (e.g., retailers, distributors) to ensure long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.Monitor and manage the International Business Division’s performance using relevant tools, reports, and dashboards.Stay current with consumer trends, requirements, and purchasing habits, integrating these insights into strategic plans.Remain informed of international business processes and regulations, ensuring compliance in collaboration with support and administrative teams.Periodically review and assess business partners' performance, taking necessary actions to enhance or replace partnerships as needed.Track sales, profitability, and key performance indicators (KPIs) monthly to ensure targets are met or exceeded.Develop the International Business team's capabilities. Through providing the necessary coaching, business exposure, and the right training needed to develop their business skills and create the 2nd line leaders.Education:Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Management, Commerce, or a related disciplinePreferred: Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., MBA), or other relevant postgraduate degree.Experience:10 -15 years of progressive leadership experience with measurable achievements in international business, with the last (5) years in an executive (or equivalent) role in an FMCG multinational organization or a similar large enterprise/ reputable companiesExcellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.In-depth knowledge of international business best practices, supply chain management, and market trends.
