Position Overview:DKU seeks a strategic, dynamic, and bilingual Director of Brand Strategy to provide visionary leadership for the university’s comprehensive branding and positioning efforts. This role is pivotal in shaping, enhancing, and promoting DKU’s distinctive brand identity and value proposition in the competitive global higher education landscape.The Director will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive, data-driven brand strategy that resonates across diverse cultural contexts and amplifies our visibility on the world stage. This is a strategic, forward-thinking role focused on high-level planning, market intelligence, and technological innovation to drive global brand growth.Reports to:Executive Vice ChancellorEssential Duties:Develop and implement a university-wide, integrated strategic branding plan to advance the institution's mission, vision, and long-term priorities in cooperation with the Office of Communications and Public Affairs. Define, steward, and continually evolve the university's brand identity, ensuring consistency in messaging and visual identity across all touchpoints and audiences (prospective students, parents, faculty, staff, partners, and the public).Emphasize global brand-building and international positioning to advance awareness and recognition of DKU as a leading liberal arts university beyond China.Serve as the primary brand strategist, establishing and enforcing brand governance standards for all internal and external partners.Conduct ongoing market research, trend analysis, and competitor benchmarking to inform strategic decisions, measure brand health, and validate campaign effectiveness.Harness the power of emerging technologies—particularly AI—to accelerate DKU’s brand strategy, uncover new opportunities, and elevate the university’s global visibility and market position.Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to monitor the global brand landscape, generate actionable insights, and optimize strategies for maximum impact.Lead, mentorand manage a team of branding professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.Develop, oversee, and manage the annual branding budget, ensuring the effective and efficient allocation of resources to high-impact strategic initiatives.Collaborate closely with the marketing and content colleagues to ensure brand strategy is seamlessly integrated into all marketing and communication outputs.Perform other duties as assigned.University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows in size and complexity in its programs.Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Business, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. At least ten to fifteen years of progressive experience in integrated marketing, brand management, or digital communications and at least five years of people and team management experience.Proven experience in brand strategy, marketing, or communications, preferably in higher education or related global industries.Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese.Demonstrated ability to lead brand-building initiatives across multiple markets and cultural contexts.Demonstrated experience in leveraging market research, data analytics, and competitive intelligence to drive strategic decision-making.Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple complex projects from conception to completion, on time and within budget.Demonstrated experience in managing significant budgets, forecasting, and allocating resources efficiently to achieve marketing objectives.Strong leadership skills with experience managing and driving the team to grow.
