Since 2004, we've guided investors to get their first—or next—deal through immersive education, data-driven tools, and a supportive network.As Director of Engineering, you'll play a key leadership role in shaping the technical vision, driving execution across engineering teams, and ensuring high performance, reliability, and quality in all of our products. You'll partner closely with product, design, and data teams to deliver solutions that drive growth, engagement, and business impact. Essential FunctionsLead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers across multiple disciplines (backend, frontend, infrastructure, data)Define and execute BiggerPockets' engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with business and product goalsPartner with Product and Design leadership to deliver high-quality, customer-centric solutions efficiently and effectivelyDrive technical excellence, scalability, and security across platforms and systemsOversee architecture decisions and ensure technical investments align with long-term growthImplement best practices for development, testing, deployment, and continuous integration. Manage resource planning, hiring, and performance management within the engineering organizationFoster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous learningProvide transparency into progress, challenges, and risks to executive leadershipStay up to date with emerging technologies and trends to inform the product and engineering roadmap. Critical CompetenciesTechnical Leadership: Deep understanding of modern software architecture, system design, and cloud infrastructureStrategic Thinking: Ability to translate company vision into an actionable engineering roadmapPeople Development: Proven track record of mentoring and developing high-performing teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Strong communicator who partners effectively with Product, Design, and OperationsOperational Excellence: Experience optimizing processes for speed, quality, and reliabilityData-Driven Decision Making: Uses metrics and KPIs to guide technical priorities and evaluate impact Education & Experience10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3-5 years in an engineering leadership roleProven success managing multiple engineering teams or departmentsExperience in SaaS, consumer tech, or marketplace platforms preferredStrong technical foundation in full-stack web development, cloud architecture (AWS/GCP), and modern frameworks. Background in Agile development and scaling engineering organizationsExperience with data-driven or subscription-based products is a plus. Knowledge of real estate investing is a plus but not required.
