We partner with high-growth companies to source, evaluate, and present top-tier technical and executive talent._____Location: Hybrid – San Francisco Bay Area or Remote (U.S.)Industry: SaaS / Fintech / Payments / AICompany Size: 500–1,500 employeesCompensation: Competitive salary + performance bonus + equityOverviewOur client is seeking a Director of Finance to lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, unit economics, and company-wide financial operations for a fast-scaling technology organization.This is a strategic, high-impact leadership role that sits at the center of company decision-making — partnering closely with the CFO, CEO, and Executive Team.The ideal candidate is a strong FP&A operator, analytically rigorous, and capable of translating complex financial insights into crisp recommendations that influence product, go-to-market, and organizational strategy.You will oversee a multi-disciplinary finance team responsible for forecasting, long-range planning, management reporting, revenue modeling, and company-wide financial systems.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Planning & StrategyOwn the company’s annual operating plan (AOP), quarterly forecasts, and long-range planning model.Build a bottoms-up financial strategy connected to product roadmap, headcount plans, ARR targets, and margin expansion.Develop and maintain the company’s rolling 12–36 month forecast, including revenue, COGS, opex, capex, and cash runway.Partner with Executive Leadership to align financial strategy with company-level OKRs and market conditions.Revenue Modeling & SaaS/Fintech MetricsBuild and refine revenue models tied to:Subscription revenue (ARR/MRR)Usage-based revenuePayments/transaction volumeInterchange, lending, or spread-based revenue (if fintech)Own and monitor key metrics:Gross marginNet and gross dollar retentionCAC, LTV, payback periodContribution marginChurn and expansion patternsCohort analysis and segmentationPartner with Sales Ops, Product, and Data to ensure accurate pipeline forecasting and revenue predictability.Financial Operations & ReportingDeliver monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting packages including variances, trend analysis, and executive-read insights.Build dashboards for real-time visibility into financial health using tools like Looker, Tableau, or Adaptive Insights.Manage financial close processes in collaboration with Accounting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Maintain and refine internal controls across spend management, procurement, budgeting, and compliance.Budgeting & Cost ManagementPartner with department heads to build and manage functional budgets (Engineering, Product, GTM, G&A).Establish a disciplined budget vs. actual review cadence and provide recommendations for corrective actions.Identify cost savings opportunities across cloud infrastructure, software spend, vendors, payroll, and marketing.Implement headcount planning models tied to hiring velocity, compensation bands, and departmental needs.Cross-Functional LeadershipAct as a strategic partner to:Product: unit economics for new features, pricing scenariosGrowth/Marketing: CAC/LTV modeling, ROI attributionSales: pipeline forecasting, compensation plans, quota coverageEngineering: cloud/infra cost modeling, capex planningPeople Ops: headcount planning and compensation analysisProvide financial guidance for strategic initiatives including market expansion, M&A, new product lines, and pricing changes.Financial Systems, Tools & AutomationOwn the company’s financial tech stack (ERP, FP&A platforms, spend management tools).Implement automations that reduce manual work and strengthen data accuracy.Drive system integrations between Finance, Sales (Salesforce), HRIS, and BI systems to support real-time forecasting.Compliance, Risk & GovernanceEnsure alignment with GAAP standards and compliance requirements relevant to fintech or SaaS environments.Partner with Legal and Security on compliance, audits, and risk management processes.Support board-level governance by preparing materials for board meetings, investor updates, and audit committees.Qualifications10–15 years of finance experience with at least 4–6 years leading FP&A teams.Successful track record in SaaS, fintech, or high-growth technology companies (ideally 300–2,000 employees).Deep expertise with SaaS unit economics, subscription forecasting, and recurring revenue modeling.Strong analytical capability with mastery of Excel/Sheets modeling; familiarity with SQL preferred.Experience working with financial platforms such as Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, NetSuite, Workday, SAP, or Coupa.Exceptional communication skills — able to translate financial models into executive-ready narratives.Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and executive teams.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field;
