Working with the dairies we capture methane, a potent greenhouse gas, that currently is released into the atmosphere and use it beneficially.
Our projects reduce CO2e emissions by over 1 million metric tons per year, and we are on track to double these CO2e reductions over the next three years. One of the major uses of CalBio biomethane will be as vehicle fuel. When truck fleets convert from diesel to natural gas, pollution emissions are reduced by approximately 90%, a great and immediate advancement for air quality in California’s San Joaquin Valley and L. A. basin. POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of the company to ensure efficiency, compliance, and profitability.
This role will lead cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives, manage production processes, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive operational excellence within the bioenergy sector. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, process improvement, and project management skills, combined with a deep understanding of renewable energy operations. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Operational Leadership Oversee daily operations across multiple departments, including production, maintenance, logistics, and supply chain. Develop and implement operational strategies that align with the company’s goals for growth, sustainability, and profitability. Monitor and optimize operational workflows to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Project & Process Management Manage large-scale bioenergy projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Implement process improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, etc. ) to enhance productivity and sustainability. Regulatory Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at the federal, state, and local levels. Develop and enforce company policies for operational safety and environmental stewardship. Financial & Budget Oversight Prepare and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation plans. Analyze financial reports to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and cost reduction.
Team Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and develop operations staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Establish performance metrics and ensure regular reporting to senior leadership. Vendor & Stakeholder Management Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and key stakeholders to ensure quality and timely delivery of services and materials. Negotiate contracts and agreements that support the company’s operational objectives. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field. A minimum of ten years of leadership experience in operations is preferred, ideally within the renewable energy, bioenergy, or comparable industrial sectors.
Proven record of accomplishment in managing large-scale projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams. Strong leadership, decision-making, and organizational skills. Proficiency in operational planning tools, ERP systems, and data analysis. Knowledge of bioenergy production processes, renewable energy technologies, and sustainability practices.
