Job Description

ob PurposeDirector of Planning for Fields provides management and coordination in the development, implementation, evaluation, and improvement of STR and AstroTurf’s quality assurance and planning processes. Directs and manages Strategic Planning function, such as developing and recommending budgets and long-range plans to the Executive Board. Collaborates with senior administration and departments to develop and implement planning measurement standards, operational indicators and in providing regular reports to Executive Board on status of strategic planning progress and strategic initiatives. Analyzes and interprets a variety of information, identifies trends, and makes recommendations, as required. Supervises and provides leadership to Planning staff by coaching, guiding and modeling key behaviors/strategies, encouraging dialogue and providing guidance and training advice to facilitate resolutions to work issues.Duties And ResponsibilitiesAttracts and retains staff by developing and implementing recruitment and selection strategies, providing orientation to staff, and ensuring a stimulating work environment with all. Monitors performance, relevant and effective inductions, identification of training needs, and employs strategies such as coaching, mentoring and discipline as appropriate to enhance performance. Assists team members to define shared and individual goals, meet target dates and ensure alignment of team goals.In consultation with the Executive Board, develops and administers departmental policies and procedures. Participates in the establishment and implementation of STR / AstroTurf policies and procedures.Ensures that departmental budget is planned, prepared and monitored in keeping with overall objectives, policies and procedures. Monitors and analyzes accounts and liaises with the Finance Department to establish efficient accounting and reporting procedures. Identifies, develops, and communicates meaningful business intelligence data to support Manufacturing management, notifying any predicted shortfall or discrepancies against timescale and budgets.Conducts research to support new products and services or expansion of products and services. Compile’s information and prepares reports, including those of a highly sensitive nature. Participates in internal teams and committees as required.Confer with establishment personnel, vendors, or customers to coordinate production or shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delaysReview documents alongside staff, such as production schedules or work orders, to determine material requirements or material priorities.Ensure all safety procedures and training are current, up-to-date, and being performed and followed (including leading and documenting monthly safety huddles)Set product standards and implement quality-control programs monitoring all departmental quality, processes, and procedures.Manage resources to ensure on-going operation of the department within the established budget, productivity, and efficiency standards.Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other departments to proactively address issues that may impact the quality of the production process or product, coordinate purchasing, production, quality, and safety.Communicate effectively with senior management and production team, informing and updating them regularly to guarantee production, sales, and customer objectives are met.
