Director of Trade Compliance- Latin America Region

A mid-sized, privately held supply chain services company is looking to hire a Director to lead the Trade Compliance function throughout the Latin America region. This role will manage both client and vendor relationships, spearhead trade compliance within LatAm, and work as part of the global trade compliance team to establish best practices throughout the organization. Main responsibilities will include:Oversee all global trade functions across the LatAm region including import, export, and compliance for live ordersWork directly with clients to evaluate their compliance needs, strategize compliance processes, and explain policy requirementsAct as subject matter expert on global tradeServe as liaison for regulatory inquiries and perform internal compliance auditsEvaluate existing processes and implement best practices where neededStay abreast of regulatory changes and ensure timely adoption of relevant regulationsAdvise leadership on regulatory risks and suggestions on how to mitigateConduct research as needed on global trade regulationsCoordinate with business units to ensure compliance with local, regional and global trade compliance requirementsLead and manage global trade compliance teamThe Director of Global Trade Compliance should possess the following:Bachelor's degree required, MBA a plus10+ years of import/export compliance experienceProficiency in trade compliance customs requirements; some exposure to product compliance also desiredExcellent communication skills and ability to present to senior leadershipEntrepreneurial mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentAbility to travel up to 25%
