An exciting opportunity exists for a high performing individual to join The Wave (Rail) project, within Transport and Main Roads (TMR) in the role of SO Director (Project Controls).The Wave (Rail) project, previously known as the Direct Sunshine Coast Rail Line project, is a generational infrastructure project that will revolutionise travel for the Sunshine Coast region, creating a seamless public transport network for the region. The Wave will deliver heavy passenger rail from Beerwah to Birtinya, and metro-style vehicles will provide links between Birtinya, Mountain Creek, Maroochydore CBD and the Sunshine Coast Airport.Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is a vital government agency moving and connecting people, places, goods and services safely, efficiently and effectively around Queensland. If you want to add value to Queensland, this is the role for you!The Opportunity In the role of Director (Project Controls), you will lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for performance reporting, financial and risk management, and compliance for The Wave (Rail) project. This role focuses on strategic management, fostering strong internal and external partnerships, and ensuring alignment with organisational and government objectives. You will provide high-level strategic and operational advice to senior executives, oversee project controls management—including scheduling, risk, and finances—and ensure the delivery of effective project outcomes through proactive leadership and governance.As the Director (Project Controls), you will be accountable for the project's performance reporting, risk management, and financial management functions, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and embedding value-adding practices. You will develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, and represent TMR in high-level meetings to support the project's success. Additionally, you will model TMR values, foster a positive teamculture, and inspire your team to work collaboratively and strategically to meet organisational and project objectives.You will model behaviours and attitudes aligned with TMR's values and contribute to a positive team culture, meeting of team and personal accountability expectations, and modelling the standards of professional behaviour.So, why join us?
