Position Summary: The Head of Scientific Affairs is a strategic leadership role responsible for guiding the scientific direction of the internal and external communications for the pipeline. This role bridges scientific innovation with business strategy, leading a team of scientific professionals and collaborating cross-functionally to support research, regulatory, medical affairs, product development, and commercial teams. Key Responsibilities: Scientific CommunicationsOversee the creation and review of scientific content including publications, white papers and internal scientific communications. Ensure all scientific communications are accurate, evidence-based, and compliant with applicable regulations.
Cross-functional CollaborationPartner with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Development, and Commercial teams to align on product and market strategies. Lead scientific input for product lifecycle planning, clinical trials, and market access efforts. External Engagement & Thought LeadershipBuild and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), academic institutions, and industry bodies. Represent the company at scientific conferences, advisory boards, and regulatory meetings. Team Management & DevelopmentLead and mentor a team of scientific affairs professionals. Foster a high-performance culture with a focus on innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Qualifications: Advanced degree in life sciences.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in scientific/medical affairs, clinical research, or related field within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry. Proven leadership experience in managing scientific or medical affairs teams. Strong knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e. g. , FDA, EMA, ICH, GCP). Exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive strategic initiatives. Desirable Attributes: Experience with global product development and regulatory submissions. Strong publication record or experience overseeing scientific publications. Familiarity with HEOR (Health Economics and Outcomes Research) and real-world evidence generation.
