In this hybrid role, you'll be the bridge between our documentation platform and our customers' success, combining your writing expertise with a passion for helping teams transform their documentation practices—from their very first demo through long-term success. What You'll DoAs a Documentation Success Manager, you'll be involved in the entire customer lifecycle, starting with prospect demonstrations. You'll conduct compelling platform demos that go beyond feature tours—you'll show prospects how our platform could transform their specific documentation challenges. Your technical writing expertise allows you to quickly understand a prospect's documentation pain points during discovery calls and demonstrate relevant solutions on the spot.During demos, you might live-edit a sample of the prospect's existing documentation to show the power of our platform, or create a mini documentation site during the call using their actual content. You'll field technical questions about workflows, integrations, and best practices with the credibility that only comes from years of hands-on documentation experience.Once prospects become customers, you'll seamlessly transition into their documentation guide. Your days will blend hands-on writing with strategic customer guidance. One morning, you might be demonstrating our API documentation features to a prospective SaaS company. That afternoon, you could be helping an existing customer restructure their knowledge base or writing their first set of getting-started guides to demonstrate best practices. You'll own the entire customer documentation journey—from that first "aha" moment in a demo through creating their first live docs on our platform, to regular check-ins where you help them optimize their workflows and adopt advanced features. When customers struggle with information architecture or style consistency, you'll jump in with both strategic advice and practical solutions. What Makes You Perfect for This RoleYou're an experienced technical writer who gets genuinely excited about well-organized documentation and loves showing others what's possible. You've felt the pain of poor documentation systems and can articulate these pain points in ways that resonate with prospects. During demos, you can quickly parse a prospect's existing documentation samples, identify improvement opportunities, and demonstrate solutions in real-time.Your technical writing background means you can speak fluently about style guides, API documentation, content reuse, version control, and documentation-as-code workflows. But more importantly, you can translate these concepts for audiences ranging from skeptical developers to non-technical stakeholders. You're comfortable writing in multiple formats—from developer guides to user manuals—and can demonstrate this versatility live during prospect calls. You excel at relationship building and have a consultative approach to problem-solving. When a prospect says "our documentation is a mess," you see an opportunity to understand their specific challenges and demonstrate a tailored solution. You're energized by the challenge of winning over skeptics and turning documentation critics into champions. You know how to read the room during demos and adjust your approach based on the audience's technical level and priorities.Technical Skills We Need3+ years of technical writing experience across different documentation typesProficiency with documentation tools (experience with platforms like ReadMe, GitBook, Archbee, Confluence, or similar)Understanding of API documentation and developer documentation needsFamiliarity with markup languages (Markdown, reStructuredText, or similar)Basic understanding of version control systems (Git)Experience with documentation site generators or static site tools is a plusComfort with screen sharing and live demonstrationsAbility to quickly learn and demonstrate software featuresSuccess MetricsYour success will be measured across the entire customer journey: demo-to-close conversion rates, time-to-first-published-documentation, customer retention, and documentation quality improvements. We'll track how effectively your demos address prospect pain points, how quickly customers publish their first documentation, and how their documentation complexity grows over time. Your ability to turn skeptical prospects into engaged customers and then into documentation advocates will be key.Why This Role is UniqueTraditional sales engineers often lack the deep documentation expertise to run truly compelling demos for a documentation platform. Traditional customer success managers can't speak with authority about documentation best practices. Traditional technical writers rarely get to shape how entire organizations approach documentation. In this role, you'll do all three. You'll have the satisfaction of showing prospects what great documentation looks like, helping them envision a better future for their content, and then personally guiding them to achieve it. You'll build lasting relationships with customers who first met you as the expert who "just got" their documentation challenges during a demo and continue to see you as their documentation mentor and strategist.QualificationsExceptional English communication and writing skillsA bachelor's degree in STEM is a plusWhat's in it for youCompetitive salaryRemote work-from-home environmentStock optionsHiring Process45-minute interview with team member45-minute interview with founder
