NES Fircroft is a leading global technical recruitment company providing professional contract and permanent staff to a diverse worldwide client base within the oil & gas industry.Job Title: Drafting TechnicianLocation: Calgary, ABLength: 6-month contract with possibility of extensionRotation: Monday to Friday, standard work weekDescription:Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Drafting Technician for a 6-month contract position with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for updating and finalizing facility drawings for existing infrastructure. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD and MicroStation, with experience managing x-refs, digitizing legacy documents, and producing accurate as-built or record drawings based on redlines and field markups. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical accuracy, organizational skills, and a solid understanding of industry-standard drafting and drawing management practices.Key Responsibilities:Update and revise existing CAD drawings using AutoCAD in line with current design standardsBind xrefs to ensure drawing integrity and file portability across platformsConvert CAD files from MicroStation to AutoCAD formatsDigitize legacy paper drawings into clean, editable CAD filesIncorporate redlines and field markups with attention to detail and traceabilityMaintain revision control, following established naming, numbering, and revision protocolsCoordinate with engineers, field staff, and document control to validate drawing accuracyPerform QA/QC reviews with stakeholders to ensure compliance with drawing standardsQualifications:Post-secondary diploma or certificate in CAD/Drafting, Engineering Design Technology, or related fieldMinimum 3 years of professional drafting experience in industrial, utility, or infrastructure projectsProficiency in AutoCAD (2018 or later) and xref managementExperience with MicroStation and cross-platform CAD conversionSkilled in digitizing paper drawings and integrating legacy data into digital systemsAbility to interpret field sketches, markups, and engineering notes with strong attention to detailExperience producing final as-built or record drawingsStrong organizational and time management skills, capable of handling multiple stakeholdersEffective communication skills for interaction with engineers, field technicians, and project stakeholdersExperience with brownfield or retrofit projects in operational facilitiesFamiliarity with mechanical, civil, or electrical engineering disciplines is an assetAdditional Notes:Occasional travel to client facilities may be required for field verification or coordinationApply here or send your resume to trevor.parlee@nesfircroft.com
