Program BackgroundThe Solomon Islands Infrastructure Program (SIIP) is a flagship 10-year infrastructure program funded by the Australian Government, with a budget of AUD 276 million. The program intends to improve the quality and accessibility of infrastructure across the provinces, delivering outcomes that contribute to broad-based, inclusive and sustainable economic growth. At the conclusion of SIIP, it is expected that two End of Program Outcomes (EOPOs) will have been achieved: EOPO 1: the Solomon Islands will have enhanced capacity to plan, manage, finance, construct and maintain critical economic infrastructure EOPO 2:
the program will have left a legacy of high profile, resilient and accessible infrastructure. For more information, please see www. dt-global. comThe RoleThe HSE Officer supports the implementation of SIIP’s health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards under the guidance of the HSE Manager. The role focuses on monitoring project work site compliance, conducting inspections, reporting incidents, and promoting safe and environmentally responsible practices across project sites.
Working closely with contractors, government officers, and the SIIP team, the HSE Officer ensures day-to-day adherence to HSE requirements and contributes to maintaining a safe, compliant, and sustainable work environment. Working knowledge of relevant HSE legislation, codes of practice, and safety management systems, preferably including Australian or Pacific context.
Experience in conducting site safety inspections, maintaining HSE records, and assisting in incident and risk reporting. Familiarity with environmental management practices in a construction or infrastructure setting. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a range of stakeholders, including contractors and local authorities. Good written and verbal communication skills in English, including basic reporting and documentation. Understanding of challenges related to infrastructure delivery in the Solomon Islands or Pacific region.
